How did you install the game? And where did you find the patch? It's available directly from EA servers, so even if your antivirus objects to it, you can trust that it's safe. But a third-party download might not be.

Just checking, but did you successfully run an MC reset from City Hall, and did you do it after removing the pregnancy moodlet? That's much more thorough than the resetsim command. Did you install the .package file(s) that come with the Smooth Patch? If so, take it/them out; they're incompatible with MasterController. The files that go in the Bin folder should be fine.

I don't know of a mod that stops this globally, but you could use a DebugEnabler reset on any sim you don't want going home in the moment. That clears the action queue without reseting the sim entirely, and then they'll be available to interact with.
