List of Things That Speed Up Loading Saved Games

After recently learning in another thread that merging .package files can make saved games load faster, I thought it might be useful to compile a list of all the things that can speed up loading. To start, here are the ones I know, either from personal experience or because I've read them somewhere:...

Crying Baby Revisited

Since no one else suggested this, it's making me doubt my memory, but I thought that if you put a baby's crib in a different room from where the parents sleep, then the baby's crying doesn't wake them. I'm also pretty sure that butlers will take care of babies and toddlers. So you could hire a butle...

Merging package files. Opinions?

Thanks, Sarah, I was hoping that's what you meant. Slow loading of saves is my major frustration with TS3, so I'm always looking for ways to improve my load times.

Merging package files. Opinions?

To clarify, when y'all talk about faster load times from merging package files, are you referring to:
  1. The time it takes the game to start
  2. The time it takes to load a saved game
  3. Both

Dead Sims...

BTW: is there a way to set this webpage so that when I open a topic I am taken to the most recent post? If you click on the rectangular shape to the left of the thread title, it will take you to the first unread post in the thread. You can tell it's the right thing to click, because if you hover ov...

Isnt playing pregnant sim too easy?

Not sure where I downloaded it, but I've got a file called "FullEATuning_P163.xml", which I belieive is all of the tunable XML settings from EA. I don't remember ever finding a setting in Retuner that isn't in that file. Unfotunately I couldn't find any settings that appear to allow for tuning Sim p...

Story Progression Name List module - link busted

it says I last visited on December 31st, 1969... That's almost certainly a Linux thing. In Linux, January 1 1970 at (I believe) 00:00 GMT is the "zero hour" from which all time is measured. Since your join date is less than an hour ago, this is probably your first visit. The site's software therefo...

Privacy - outdoor bath

sheridanhoughton - I'd love to hear more about your setup. The Sims Castaway on the Wii is one of my all time favorite Sims experiences. On the bathing front, this page has a link to a mod that will increase hygiene from swimming, as well as some other mods that could be used to increase that Castaw...

Welcome to our new site!

Just wanted to say how impressed I am with this move, in terms of both the effort and the technical skill involved in pulling it off. In particular, porting over user accounts and messageboard posts to an entirely different software platform is not something that many medium-sized companies would be...

Tempest: Please help

After all the enjoyment I've gotten out of the NRAAS mods and help I've gotten from the articles on the site, I'm glad to help out in any ways I can, however small. It's very cool that y'all are still so trusting of new folks. I hope the bad people on the Net never manage to change that about this p...
