Should work fine. For myself I prefer AMD CPUs and GPUs but those work too.

I really don't think there is a patch issue.. As long as you have a newer and not an older pathc then when you played you should be good.
Are you sure you did not have a fixed version of the world they are saved in that you don't have anymore? Like ellacharmed's fixes?

Ah so it is not the Launcher that does not open, but the whole game. Have you tried renaming the Sims 3 Folder in your Documents so that the game generates a new one?
