You could give it a try, the game can be unpredictable so any route is worth checking. Also, make sure to delete the scriptcache.package file in the Documents folder of TS3 and start the game again. If that still didn't solve it, does it crash if you start a new game and try it on a new household?

well I tried taking out all my custom objects but they still crash while trying to click "intermediate>career>alma mater". Well it won't crash when I didn't do that but I need to change my sim's alma mater and I can't clone him because he already had a pretty big family with grandkids and cloning him would be too complicated

Did you also try the other 2 things I suggested? Deleting the scriptcache.package file and trying it on a new game?
