How do i do this? I've tried searching but everyone gave very vague answers. Thank you!

i believe that should be as simple as clicking on the dorm lot and using NRaas > MC > Add Sim. But if these are town residents who own their own houses locally, as opposed to transient students who come and go each term, they may stand to lose their real estate property and furnishings if the last remaining adult member of the household is moved to a dorm this way.

If i do NRaas > MC > Add Sim Will it put me in CAS? or is it gonna make me select premade sims?
and- oh, nah, I just wanna move in the sims from the premade sims menu thingy. If i do the "add sim" will it assign them a student automatically?

MC's Add Sim is a mechanism to add an existing sim to the target lot's household. Dorms and the Frat.Sorority Houses don't have households exactly, so instead it would change their domicile for that term to the target lot. None of this has anything to do with CAS, the command should prompt you for filters to then select one or more sims already present in the game ("X" to dismiss the filters and get a more complete list for the current world).

If the sim isn't already a Uni student and it's not between terms, you can make them one if you wish with NRaas > MC > (Sim) > Intermediate > Career. > Choose Academic Career > (and then select a major for them).

You can always try commands like these out and if they don't do what you want for some reason, quit without saving.

The premade Sims in CAS don't exist anywhere yet, they are just templates to use as base for Sims you are going to create. If you want to use them in a world, you first have to create a household with them in CAS, which you can then place somewhere in the world. If you can't place them in a dorm directly, you can first place them on another lot, then use MC's Add Sim to add them to the dorm.

Might be mistaken, but I thought the OP was talking about pre-made Uni students/residents. Not CAS templates.

The point I was trying to get across though is that MC > Add Sim is not a mechanism to create new sims. It's to add already existing sims to a household thus yanking them out of their current one (if they have one).

I assumed they were talking about CAS templates because they asked if Add Sim will put them in CAS. If that's not what they meant, my bad.

So, MC'S add sim will add them from the premade households, i think its called the bin? and when they're in the dorm, i have to choose their degrees with mc, got it. Are they gonna act like roomates (aka like normal dorm mates) if i do that?

Just so we're clear about what i'm trying to do, I made custom households for a custom university world to move them into the dorm as non playable dorm mates with their own degrees like they would in a normal uni world, and im able to play with my own sim in the dorm, again, like you would normally, but i don't know how to make the household i made into dorm mate npcs.

Okay, neither of us who responded realized you were talking about households in the household bin.

From Edit Town, move them into an existing residential lot so the sims get added to your game. I keep one or two empty and out of the way 10x10 lots in each world I work with for just such purposes, but it can really be any unpopulated lot. Then use MC > Add Sim to add them to the dorm. You can't add them to a dorm from Edit Town directly because, strictly speaking, a dorm is not a residential lot that can be owned by an incoming household (much like the WA and ITF Base Camps). Not sure what will happen to these sims after their Uni term is over, but I expect they will at least briefly become homeless so they may need watching over of they are to be kept in the game.

I tried MC > Add sim but that just adds them to my family and (it shows me their portrait and i can control them), i want them to be more like how a dorm mate would behave in the original uni world.

and what do you mean watching over? Like, is it gonna bring them back to my world when the term is over?
