Why does it switch to a random different accessory when I try to put female accessories on my male sims?

Thank you so much! Also, would it be possible to make the xml make them invalid for random at the same time? b/c like you said, opposite-gender clothes mess up the mesh, and i don't want to have random sims walking around with a torso that doesn't connect to their legs

It can, but the one drawback is that all ClothingCategory options are part of one flag- so the bit for removing Valid for Random also contains the info for what categories the item appears in, etc.
