Hello, long time lurker, I am using a lot of nraas mods and I have customized tunings for some of them (I start a lot of new games, loading my settings automatically is a must).
I finally decided to try and clean my CAS of all the stuff that I am tired of browsing through again and again (like shoes in the swimsuit category, infinite variations of the same soccer shirt, stupid hats, whatever). Also removing stuff from the NPC outfit pool would be nice too.
So I am looking into the MC and dresser blacklisting functionality, and checking the site FAQs, and... Well something must have happened to those tutorials along the way. All of the XML tags seem to be completely missing.

I know what a xml file looks like, and I exported a blacklist from the game so I have a functional example at least, but I was curious about what some of those tags did, which are necessary for the list, etc.

Hm, I don't know about the XML parts missing under MC blacklisting, in the dresser FAQ they are there.
What tags do you mean, you don't know what they do?

Claudy Bookworm, Cat Person, Computer Whiz, Couch Potato, Eco-Friendly, Friendly, Frugal, Genius, Nurturing, Social butterfly, Supernatural fan, Virtuoso in the past, Workaholic, Brooding, No Sense of Humor

Sorry, I meant that I literally can't see them, on my browser... Can you?
This is an example of what I see on the Dresser - Tuning Invalid Parts page.Same on the Blacklisting page I linked too (technically they're both for dresser, it's just supposed to be the same syntax). All the tags are missing from the descriptions and code samples.
I am mostly curious about what is the minimum stuff needed to get a filter to work, and to group entries together when possible. Since there is supposed to be a maximum size to this file, I am trying to be efficient. Experimenting a bit it looks like it's basically just instance, group to identify the thing and then categories? At least while I don't need something more specific?
And on the bit I've quoted there, I get the second one is Species, I think the third one is WorldTypes, but the first one and which fields it will ignore are a lot more mysterious to me.

Code: Select all
Note on
If you include this field the mod will ignore any and fields you have set
Note on
You can only enter one species type in this field.

Valid values are any of the following:

Downtown
Vacation

Yes, I've noticed in a few areas of the site some of the old formatting has been lost.
For now, one can use the Wayback of the old site to have a look at what is missing here and here.
Worth the mention that you can do this with CASP hiding/recategorisation as well, if you'd prefer. I'm not actually sure which method is more tedious, but you could still use MC blacklist to grab the IDs. I'm perhaps a little biased on that one, so I'm not sure what the pros/cons on using Dresser instead would be.

Thank you for the Wayback Machine link, it did clarify a few things. For now I made my list with a mix of wide blocks for stuff I don't want to see anywhere and quick exported in-game blacklist for more specific stuff like non-flipper shoes in swimwear and such.
I am keeping the hiding trick in mind for buy mode at least if not CAS, it's true that the catalog is a mess.
Lazy Duchess's search function helps, but I've not experimented much with it yet. https://www.patreon.com/posts/ts3-catalog-mod-82175020
