Asexual and Bi representation

Post by Mirage » January 8th, 2023, 6:03 am

Hi Guys,
when I randomize my town's sexuality with 'Town Hall-MC-Town-Randomized Undecided Gender Preference' only the percentage option to set as gay comes up. I haven't seen an option to randomize asexual or bisexual, am I missing something? I manually make some sims Ace or Bi but because it's not randomized it kinda takes the surprise out of the game. Thanks for all that you do by the way!

only the percentage option to set as gay comes up
First the window option preference for male comes and change the value to 0
then do the same for preference for female, the second window which follows

This thread will give you all answers I think.

Asexual and Bi representation

Thank you for responding, I've read that thread :) But as I'm understanding it, it either makes all sims a certain sexuality or a group that I have chosen, it's not exactly randomized like the other route does I think. I've also wondered if Story Progression also still makes those sims pair up with other sims or respects the (a)sexuality set for them?

Well I am not sure but if you want specific female sims to only love females, the setting can be set like
1. male window (minus) value -999999
2. female window value 999999

Befor I would change ALL to 0 = undecided
With the High Number of 999999 they should keep this a long long time, because it may can change.

I would not randomize it.

Asexual and Bi representation

There's I think a couple of misunderstandings expressed here thus far.

1 - Sims who have gender prefs set to 0/0 (same gender/diff gender) are neither bi nor asexual. They are undecided and, unless they never meet anyone, will probably not stay that way.

Bisexual would be something more like +50,000/+50,000.
Asexual would be something more like -50,000/-50,000

2 - Sims don't really carry the labels of straight, gay, bi, or ace. It's all gender prefs only. The labels are for the player to read and are based on a simple (if/then) formula applied to the gender prefs. Thus it's really just the two settings above that can get randomized (or not).

3 - Sims can and will hook up and even partner with those who go against their gender prefs. It may not happen every day, but it's possible. They face a severe attraction score penalty for doing so, but that can at least in part be made up for by other attributes. I hate to put it quite this way, but give a sim a billion Simoleons or something and a high celeb level, and they suddenly become a very hot commodity.

I don't know of any way to randomize the two negative scores that would make a sim what we call ace, but if the player wants to apply a random element themselves, they can do so based on a trait or something truly random like a zodiac sign.
