Installing a world problem
I installed Evensdale County and spent 4 nights setting it up the way I wanted THEN discovered it has a road out because it used a SN bridge and I don't have SN. I had to uninstall the world and choose another version of the same world. But, now I can't install the world. I downloaded and extracted the world, 4 different versions, and when I add them to the downloads folder, the launcher shows little brown boxes and not the world. I read somewhere that those boxes mean the item is not ready for download. So how can I install this world? The world is not showing as installed in the Installed Worlds folder, and there are no World Caches for this world.

First get Delphy's Multi-Extracter http://modthesims.info/d/364038
Now create a working folder on your desktop or other location, name it whatever you want
Place the World in the working folder
Run the Multi-Extracter (make sure to make the Working folder both the Pick and Destination and tick Rename Files on Save in case it's just one file)
Find the largest package (there might only be one) and rename it to Evensdale.world or just change the .package to .world
Now copy the world and then go to C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\GameData\Shared\NonPackaged\Worlds and paste it there
Move any packages if there are any to Mods/Packages
Now load up and test your game

This is obviously for future info, since I'm very late to this party. But after you uninstalled the world all you needed to do is to open your TS3 folder, then the Worldcaches subfolder, and delete the files Evansdale County_objects.package and Evansdale County_sims.package.
After that you could have reinstalled the other version of the world. If she'd generated a new world ID this would not have been necessary but any time I uninstall a world I also delete those two cache files for the world since it's just unnecessary flotsam.
