I'm in need of some help.

I had played Sims 3 several times through the steam platform on my acer aspire 3 laptop with several nraas mods and custom content downloads but back in February of this year (2021) I had to send my laptop away for repairs which turned into 3 repair cases back to back up until July. Thankfully I had the Electronic Arts Sims 3 folder from documents on my computer backed up to a hard drive so I went to redownload back Sims 3 from steam and then tried installing in my old custom content downloads from my backup folder and my nraas mods but nothing would work. It had been a patch update that because I didn't have my laptop around at the time my custom contents and mods did not match the patch version to steam. So steam was updated to 1.67 so I went and manually tried redownloading all my custom content and nraas mods from there websites but even with the new downloads of my custom contents it would not install them into the launcher. There would be the loading Sims 3 pop up that usually shows like a loading bar on the bottom but then nothing to say it had been installed in from the secondary pop up.

So I then tried switching to the Origin Launcher which its patch version was 1.69. My custom content would install fine into launcher and game would load, but when I tried putting my nraas mod into the correct folder I was suppose to, delete the 5 cache items and try to load the game, it would crash before it even got past the logo.

So the game works without my nraas for the Origin Launcher but I want it to work with them cause of the settings and features I had set up during my previous gameplay. I would prefer to still play from steam the way I use to before but none of my custom content want to install in the Launcher even though they been updated.

What am I doing wrong?

I've split this post off. It's generally better to start a new thread rather than adding to an existing one.

It sounds like you have mods for content you don't have installed such as Cupcake without the bakery set installed or MasterController Progression without StoryProgression installed.

@Chain_Reaction thanks for making this a separate post, i didn't know how to make this into a new one.

and actually i did have MasterController Progression V134 installed along with the original MasterController V134, MasterController Cheats V134 and nointromaxis but no matter what i did of trying to have them in a made Mods folder under Electronic Arts in the document folder it just kept crashing the game. like i stated in my 1st post. the game through origin launcher would load game without the mod folder, but not with. and the steam launcher just doesn't install my custom content into the game itself.

RebeccaVamp, you have MC base mod, MC cheats module and MC progression module, correct? But do you have Story Progression base mod? Without it MC progression module will broke your game. Delete it or install Story Progression base mod.

@Knight if MC stands for MasterController and you read what i said then you would see that yes I have MasterController V134 which i assume is base, MasterController Cheats V134 and MasterController Progression V134. please don't make me have to repeat myself.

RebeccaVamp, sorry for that, but we need to know: do you have installed NRaas Story progression mod? If not and you don't need it - you should to remove MC progression and game will works fine.

@Knight you are damn brilliant!! it was the story progression base mod i was missing the whole time. originally i am more aware of things to have all mods downloaded at the ready but because it been so long since i last played i only started with a short few. but going and getting the story progression base mod actually made it work. i never been more happy to see it load again after so long. i'd so hug you right now if i could so i will have to just say a very deep thank you for helping me out. your amazing. now i can finally play back sims 3 again and get back into my family storyline. just got to get back to work downloading everything i had before. so many many thanks!!
