World Adventure Issue

Post by S1msR0ck » April 2nd, 2018, 3:41 pm

Major Script Errors: Playing a sim who is in France, had her working dig sites to collect some of the collections I was missing pieces for. She dug up the site at the Burial Mound; when she was done she disappeared and my ENTIRE WORLD was totally annihilated. My error trap had about 2,000 errors and then started running backwards. This is the second time this has happened in my game.
The first time this occurred was a different sim in China and I never posted about it.

That's quite an impressive meltdown you had going there. Basically every sim in your game has become corrupt and I would have to say that session would not have been playable going forward with or without the incessant ErrorTrap (and other mod) logs. The reports are all about every sim's Dream Manager and cellphones being broken and not able to be repaired, but these are things that are required for sims to be and behave as they do which is why the entire population of sims would have appeared to have been TA'ed. It's not clear to me if the error conditions are the problem or, more likely, they are symptoms of whatever did cause this.

I take it by "running backwards" you mean that you were getting the script log reports out of order. That's not unusual when so many thousands of error conditions are reported on all at once and is nothing to be concerned about, but that's no consolation either I am sure.

Can't really understand how digging for artifacts could have been the trigger. When our lead developer reads this, hopefully he will have some ideas as to the root cause.

Can we confirm something, though. You are on Patch 1.69 and thus must have an Origin controlled game. But was the base game and were all of your EP/SPs that you do have (seems to be all up through Uni on the EPs but not IP or ITF), were they all Origin digital installs, possibly retail store discs, or from some other source (which ones)?

Most are store discs, I resist using digital unless necessary (I'm old school and proud of it); which seems to be more frequent now (digital) :( . Can't locate a disk for Seasons or Uni. and I know I did have a couple digital. I put my sims away for a few years and now I don't see the digital downloads on Origin. And yes, the "running backwards" did look like the logs were a little haywire. I force closed that game and reloaded from a previous save. Aloma won't be doing any dig sites for a while. So far the game is behaving.
I'm really hoping I don't have to delete and reload all my games; however, if I must then I must. Thanks for any help at all to resolve this, I'm thankful you guys are still out there for us die hard Sims 3 fanatics.

Yes, reverting to a prior save was exactly the right thing to do especially while we're waiting for a more informed answer. Could be things are fine and this was all just an unfortunate coincidence of some kind.

Not sure I got a complete answer to that last question (sorry, I've been traveling half the day and working the other half myself so I'm really tired). But what I meant was, are your digital installs from Origin or were the installers you ran from some other legitimate source when they existed or some less than legitimate one? I wasn't trying to lead you to a total reinstall at all, that rarely helps anything unless you have a new hard drive to work with.

You're welcome and thanks for the kind words. :)

Looks like one of the issues Dreamer fixes. Install that and see if it helps.

igazor - no worries, my digitals were loaded from the Sims 3 web site when Origin was still a separate entity. I've played so long, I'm "expert" at having to reload and delete and reload..... ;) It was my own experience that lead to that conclusion. Years ago played with some of MTS mods, but when I found NRAAS that is all I've ever used. I haven't played since 2016 and left the game(s) in my computer. As soon as I started having issues, I was afraid of the dreaded reload.

Chain_Reaction - I will give that a try and if I still have issues, I will let you know.

Keep up the great work, and thanks so much.
