Lag and Crashing issues.

Post by elvibuu » August 13th, 2023, 9:23 pm

My game has been acting a bit strange lately so I would like some help identifying the reason for it constantly slowing down and crashing on me. (Which my game has never done before).

The obvious question to ask (which may or may not be helpful) is what have you added to or changed about your game recently, since before this issue began?

The link you provided only leads us to an Access Denied page.

Sorry about the access issue lol, just fixed it. But not that I can really recall many changes except deleting some mods.

The ErrorTrap log is just a routine lunar phase Correction Log. It doesn't contain any script errors. The crash log only tells that your game crashed, those are typically pretty useless.

However, we can see that you are using LD's Smoothness Patch w/MC file. That structure is actually not compatible with NRaas mods and is not supportable. If you remove/undo the MC component and clear (delete) the scriptCache from the top level of your TS3 user game folder in Documents, does your game become more stable?

Do you mean delete the "Master Controller" mod in my game?

No. LazyDuchess is the developer of a mod called the Smoothness Patch. Parts of it get inserted into/replace game program files rather than being placed in the Mods\Packages folder. The latest versions, 2.x, of the Patch include an optional MC package file that does get inserted into Mods\Packages. You have the 2.x version of the Smoothness Patch and her MC file in play. The MC portion is to be considered highly experimental, not for use in ongoing games, and is broken to the point where we cannot support games that have it in play because, it causes such high levels of instability. What it's supposed to do is make the MC version of CAS work better.

I mean, sure you can remove MC and MC Integration instead but then there wouldn't be any point at all to having the MC portion of the Smoothness Patch in play. And that's where would say farewell and good luck, because (with apologies to the developer, who does after all mean well with her efforts) we are not here to support games with mods known to be game-breaking in use.

We can't actually vouch for the stability of the 2.x versions of the Smoothness Patch at all, even without the MC component although many players do report success with that, just again without the MC add-on component. But I did try v1 of the Patch and it works fine for me, other than the fast spin it gives items in Build/Buy Mode making me dizzy and even nauseous at times. But that's more of a personal issue than a game performance one.

Ok that makes a lot of sense. Ill try and see if my game does any better without it, but random question: So if i have master controller in my CAS and the "compact" feature doesn't work for my game, is that an computer issue?

You need to move out Lazyduchess Mastercontroller package, this is not compatible.
Means the Compact form does not work.
Move it out, delete Cache files and then MC CAS will work as intended.

You can keep the other files in your game bin and see if your game works ok.

In case the issue persists without interference from the Smoothness Patch file, then It depends on how you are getting into CAS. Only the MC version of CAS knows anything about Compact Mode. The EA version does not. You can tell which version of CAS (or its subsets) you are in by right-clicking on the "..." button in the lower left corner that usually leads to Options, Quit, Save As, etc. In the EA version of CAS, nothing will happen. In the MC version, that should be honoring the Compact Modes if they are switched on, a window with MC options should appear.

One mistake many players make is not letting the game load all the way with the game clock running smoothly for at least a few sim minutes before going into CAS, CAH (Create a Household), or its subsets like Change Appearance/Outfits. In this case, the mods will not have had time to load fully yet and you will more likely end up in EA's version of CAS without meaning to.

Ok so I followed your advice, but unfortunately my game is too far from saving. I got into MC CAS and the clothes section started to glitch in a way that I couldn't even use it. It was appearing and then disapearing (like when you first load the coloumns) and it wouldn't stop. Someone had the same issue on reddit and couldn't find the solution. I assume its because my game started to rely on the Lazydutchess mod and lost its sense of control, assuming by the fact so many other glitches were happening in my game. I also had made a mistake by adding the two "flavors" of the smooth patch mod so my game code was probably confused. Now i don't know what to do because adding it back might cause more destruction.
