Sims Saved to the Library

Post by sittingbear » December 25th, 2019, 2:28 pm

I've always noticed that sims I save to the Library bin or make in CAS never randomly change to occults with EA's SP when placed in a world. I once thought it was because it was custom world but one time I got lazy and just use DebugEnablers Populate the World with Sims option and noticed that those sims do change randomly to occults, same thing happens if I take one of the games default worlds such as Sunset Valley (from the install directory) or Midnight Hollow (from the Installed Worlds folder) and remake them as a custom world with the population kept intact, they also randomly change.

But anyway is there a reason that sims saved to the Library or made in CAS don't randomly change to occults with EA's SP are they blocked somehow and if so is there a way around the block?

I would guess they assumed if you wanted a sim you were creating to be an occult you would add it while making them.

Probably for CAS. But doesn't explain why for sims I've grabbed from other worlds like Twinbrook, Riverview, Barnacle Bay....etc

I don't see anything in the code that would cause this. They only get protection if their lot is targeted for a active Sim's job. Maybe you're having bad RNG?

No I can faithfully reproduce it and after 30 in-game days no ones changed, now their children (those born in town) will but not the sims that where placed from the Library. It's been like that for years, they used to change but it stopped happening and I can't remember when it stopped. I've even tweaked the Demographics XML to shut down everything but Occult Change. My only guess is the Library does more than wipeout Relationships. I know if I make a vampire or werewolf family Export them from the Library and try to install them with a clean folder the children won't keep their occult status.

You mean their not supposed to get dragooned as co-worker? Cause I know I've had that happen to them a few times.

Interesting. There's probably something I'm missing.

The library export fails to export a lot of data. I'm not sure it's related. EA SP honors protection flags. They do get some partial protection from being killed by EA SP but it doesn't look like that extends to occult change. I'd say yours are getting higher protection flags some kind of way.

I mean, if an active Sim has an active career job on their lot, they are excluded from any EA SP actions.

Well at least I'm not alone in it I found this thread and it's recent just around a couple of months ago and this one thinks it's some flag that's being placed on them by EA as well.

It's probably a bug that no one ever reported cause a lot of people didn't like the random occult change and might've kept quiet about it and took it as a blessing in disguise.
