Game mechanics?

Post by JohnL83 » April 11th, 2019, 3:29 pm

I built a resort in Appaloosa, it's working fine, but I have a couple of questions.

First, does a sim have to stay in the "tower" for the resort to think they've actually been there the number of nights they checked in? I built a building that has rooms with beds and adjoining baths and my "tower" is the Spanish style row of rooms. That actual tower is enormous and hideous, I was SO glad to know that wasn't the only tower you could use to make a resort because at first I was afraid it was until I saw that the other couple of buildings were called towers as well!

Second. Is it normal that sims who are not related or in relationships share a double bed at a resort? I know that not even close friends who stay over at your sims home will share a double bed,but I have my couple staying at the resort and sent them to the actual room to sleep after a nice woohoo and I noticed in the room next door two sims were sharing a double bed and they are not a couple and I'm not even sure just how close friends they are either. I should have checked. Anyway, are the rules different for the resort lots?

I don't know that the rules are different for Resorts, but do you have the SleepFreedom mod in play?

Nope. No sleep freedom that I'm aware of. Is that a separate mod or part of WooHoo?

This is why I asked. I wanted to know if this was normal or if my game is having a small glitch or something? I don't really care that much. But I did check on the elder sim and the YA sim who slept in the same bed at the resort. They never cuddled btw and they were not lesbians, nor in a relationship (I discourage YA and Elders, but don't disallow it) and their relationship was only at 40%. So IDK what is up, but it's not a problem for me unless it messes with other game mechanics or causes further glitches.

As for staying in the tower. I'm thinking they do have to at least spend a short time there because my couple went for a 2 night stay and ended up being there longer since I didn't have them visit the "tower" building the first night. They only slept in the "Hotel" I built. But if someone knows for sure about this I'd like to know. I may have miscalculated their check-in time vs how long they were there. I'm not sure at this point. I was managing the active family of 8 so I was back and forth from the resort to their home lot, etc.

SleepFreedom is an NRaas mod, as listed on the site's sidebar and can also be found at the link I just provided above.

SF will remove privacy restrictions on beds (if this is what the issue is) if the bed is replaced after the mod is put into play and as long as it's a base game or EP/SP bed. But regardless I'm not getting the part about close friends not being able to share beds for sleeping in as long as they are both YA or older. I think they can do that as long as their friendly relationship is high enough, of course there won't be any romantic animations like the cuddling if they are not a couple. They will each stay on their own side of the bed. SF is required to allow teens and I believe children to share a bed with another sim of any age who not a blood relative.

But I've been playing with SF in for so long, it was actually my first NRaas mod, that sometimes I get the restrictions without it in play a bit mixed up. So don't be overly concerned if what I just described doesn't quite match what you have been seeing.

Not in my games. I don't have the Sleep Freedom mod ( btw I didn't even notice that was a link...sorry....ahem!....LOL ;) ) When I have had a sim's friend stay over and the only option is their double bed I have not been able to get the sim to sleep in the same bed with their friend. Frankly I would think children and teens could share a double beds when they are friends, but I can't get them to do so. (at any age) I've even gone as far as making them active for a second and pushing them to get in the bed, but they just stomp their feet and complain and then go crash on the couch or outside on a bench. What I've taken to do is provide a sleeping bag or guest bedroom for them. But not every game I play lives in a fancy enough home for that. When I do have sims spend the night it's generally a friendship higher than 50% who stays, and often nearly 100%. So the SF mod may just be a good idea for me.
