Senile Babysitter

Post by littlelambsy » March 20th, 2019, 10:41 pm

My sim has to call a babysitter for 2 hours while he works. The babysitter that comes is an elderly man. He takes the baby out of the baby swing, snuggles, then proceeds to clap his hands and say "Woohoo" as if cheering. But, the poor unfortunate baby is still stuck to his hand, so when he does this he smacks the poor child senseless while clapping, turns her upside down and then seemingly tries to put her in his pocket. LOL Then he puts her back in the baby swing and starts the whole process over again for the 2 hours! Is there a way to stop this senile behaviour and just be normal, sit down and watch tv while the baby sleeps in the swing? Why is the child stuck to his hand?

I had babysitters like that while I was growing up. Didn't do me any long-term harm at all. Or at least not anything that thirty years of therapy and herbs couldn't correct. :|

Sims sometimes get objects stuck to their hands after an interaction takes place, that's not unusual. Although it's more typically basketballs, drink glasses, things like that and not babies, I've seen that happen as well (rarely). But I'm going to have to ask if you have mod in play that changes the one allowable age range for babysitters to Elders. That's not the standard, babysitters as Service Sims are supposed to be restricted to Teens.

Thanks igazor, I do have a mod to allow elders. I don't particularly like it, so have no problem removing it. I just thought, at the time, that teens should be in school during the day, so having elderly babysitters made more sense.

Hmm, I just removed the elders babysitter mod but the next day a babysitter was called and the same elder showed up. I checked all my mods and don't have any elder babysitter mods now. This time, he didn't bounce the baby all over the place, he sat down on the floor and played with his computer. He played with the baby once, but didn't feed her. Better than last time but still not great. I wonder why I'm still getting an elder instead of a teen? I cleared all cache files and reloaded the game after removing the mod.

I've never used these mods, but my guess would be that the age check is done on Service Sims when they are added to the service pool, not when they are deployed to our sims' houses. You could leave him be I guess, or you could remove elder babysitters from the service pool by making them residents (MC Add Sim) or by TAing them and see if the replacements generated turn out to be teens again.
