Windows 10
Windows 10
So it seems that Microsoft is going to be forcing a windows 10 download on us. I'm still on 7 because I don't like change and I don't like my programs messed up. Anyway, how is windows 10? Wondering if I should just go ahead and d/l it before they force it on me.

Whoa there. I am also on Win 7 and in fact my simming computer will have severe problems with Win 10 -- I've been watching and the hardware drivers I would need to upgrade are just never going to happen. When not simming or blathering on message boards about sims, I also happen to manage a medium-sized corporate network with almost all Win 7 workstations which, for different reasons, we have no interest in upgrading.
Where is this news about a forced upgrade coming from? Win 7 should be in extended support mode until January, 2020 and Win 8.1 until January, 2023. And even then, no one forces operating systems on users. They have to be willing victims...er, I mean targets. Er, customers. Yeah customers, that's it.

You can get the Windows 10 Upgrade for free until 29. Juli 2016 after you have to pay for it. So its up to you.
I'm on windows 8.1 and the game runs great and will upgrade the next months, so I can report then

As far as I know you can always go back, reverse the upgrade and of cause, backup everything important on an external drive f.i.

A friend of mine has theuser profile error after the upgrade, means the place where all profiles, game saves and stuff is was not recognized coreectly even it was there the way it should, butyou can correct it by editing the registry.
I wonder if this happens to me too lol.

We updated to Win10 a few months back on our laptop and so far, other that user created glitches, I haven't had any trouble running the game. 'course the laptop is a fairly new Viao with lots of RAM with a separate video card (not the usual on-board junk most laptops get foisted off with), so that probably makes a big difference. Our desktop, on the other hand... ☺ The less said about that, the better. TS2 had problems running on it.

Well, I guess I'll go with the free option ..... pisses me off ... I have no interest in upgrading ... and OMG if it messes with my sims! >.<

Appreciate the information guys, thanks. But there is no need to upgrade no matter what category MS puts the upgrade into. Again, for folks like me, the upgrade would break our Windows install even though I get the same insistent offers as everyone else until I get annoyed enough to block the nagging by disallowing the Win Update triggering those or setting a registry entry as even MS indicates for those who don't want them.
If I don't have to agree to a Win 10 upgrade, no one else should have to either unless they want it. Personally, I'll be revisiting the question in 2020. But by them I'll probably have or really need a new desktop anyway, so it won't matter anymore.

With ya 200% igazor. Even after the free upgrade offer expires there's no way the entire OS will automatically install without some $$. The auto update possibly will put in the installer but that's useless unless the OS is purchased. I don't allow auto updating anyway so guess I'll just back out of here slowly
