Coffeehouse Opening Hours

Post by Sarah_Sims » February 25th, 2015, 1:26 pm

Is it possible to change the opening and closing times of Lot Types like the Coffeehouse and Java Hut? By default, the Coffeehouse is open from 6am to midnight and the Java Hut from 5am one morning to 3am the next!

I've had a look through Retuner but can't find it there.

Thanks! :-)

Howdy there Sarah :) Not sure if this is where you looked in Retuner but I have set hours for RH lots using Retuner>Settings>General>byTunableXML>Sims3.Gameplay.Objects.RabbitHoles>Grocery>kShoppingTuning. There are settings in there for Close Time and Open time for Autonomous and User Directed among other options. I'm just going in game now so I'll look around a little more. Can't immediately recall the other options I found. I know you can not change, say, times movies start but have been able to set times for coffee houses, etc. Back at ya shortly.

@Sarah - Are you by any chance using some variety of the Ingredients Overhaul mod? That one also incorporates elements of a Better Bars mod (Bluegenjutsu's? my memory is getting fuzzy now and am away from my game) that adjusts the hours of many of the venues in town. It's easy to retune the XML of the mod itself, once the correct file and resource is located.

(looking at your default hours again) Then again, those might well be the game's defaults.

This might not be much help. I couldn't find specific for Coffeehouse or Java Hut but what I do have, that I have been able to adjust times in Retuner for is:
I have a coffeehouse/bakery designated as Bistro
Did the same for some other establishments classifying them as Restaurant or Diner

Venue's are a little bit trickier than RabbitHoles with their opening and closing hours, which isn't tunable with Retuner. It will require a separate Tuning mod of the Venue _XML to be able to adjust the time and even then sometimes the changes made to times onto those Venues doesn't get loaded :(.

But if you want to have a go at it, here's a default EA Venue Tuning mod:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/7mtmu ... eTimes.rar (check with Dashboard if you already have a Venue _XML tuning mod, if so make the changes in that mod).

1. Download and place it on your Desktop
2. Open *.package in S3PE
3. R-Click on line Venue> Text Editor (notepad ++) or NotePad
4. Once in Notepad (++) do CTRL+F and find whatever Venue you are looking for
5. Change within the lines ???
<HourOpen>???</HourOpen>
<HourClose>???</HourClose>
To whatever times you think is appropriate
6. When done Save and exit Notepad (++) Save and exit S3PE
7. Place the file within your Packages\ folder (or wherever it runs Tuning mods on CCMagic)
8. Clear Cache, run game and check if the times are changed.

Good luck! ;-)

@J4Ks: Thanks! No wonder I couldn't find it in Retuner. Will give this a go asap. :-)

@igazor: I am using the Ingredients Overhaul mod. Didn't realise that changes the opening hours though. Will see what J4Ks solution does. Thanks! :-)

@brappl: Yeah, that's where I was getting stuck because I couldn't find those lot types in Retuner as they're not actual Rabbit Holes. Thanks anyway for your suggestion - I never thought of doing it that way. :-)

@Sarah - Yes, I found out when all the inactives in town were grouping up and marching off to the dance clubs at 5am on a Monday morning (as the clubs were set to be open until 8am or something) with no thought on their minds that they had to be at work soon. It took me an entire day of doing the 50/50 dance to figure out which mod was causing that and never suspected this one, but again it was easy to adjust the tuning in much the same way that J4Ks describes above.

I can retrace my steps later today (tonight our time) if you want and tell you more precisely which file and resource it was.

@J4Ks - Won't doing it with another file mean that Sarah will end up with two conflicting tuning mods? Or would one of them somehow take priority?

@Igazor; This mod is to find out with Dashboard, if a user already has a tuning mod with the Venue _XML inside of it in their mods setup. If they do they can disregard this mod and edit the one they already have. If not, then they have something to work with ;-)

Of course they can place it in the Overrides\ -folder to take priority, but why would one need 2 tuning mod that alters the same and one nullifies the other? Or look up in their mod setup that remotely changes the same.
I find this way of finding a mod that does the same more convenient, than rummaging through all your mods to find it.
