Hi everyone.
So, I would like to have the option, when "Serve" a meal, to choose the amount of servings, because 8 is too much and food becomes spoiled or sims start going nuts from eating the same for so many days. (well, I am, in any case, since usually there are two meals in the fridge, breakfast and dinner).
I could change the Food xml in the GameData package, or since I have Retuner, to change it with Retuner, but to my understanding that will be a global option, and not something to choose for meals in the active household.
I know about icarus_allsorts mod, (I have some mods of icarus_allsorts) which has a very interesting option prompting at the end of cooking for number of servings, which I like very much, but the other things of the mod can not be completely tuned out with the mod's tuning and I don't want the ingredients options. (I am too lazy to choose ingredients every time and my sims inventory is full of various fruits and vegetables from gardening ).
I tried to make a package from the Food xml with a function similar to the prompt function of icarus_allsorts mod, trying to learn from that mod, but of course I failed . I can change things up to a certain point, but...
So, I'm feeling rather dumb at the moment...
Any advice, info, something? Or should I just resign myself to throwing out food from the fridge?
Thank you for listening (or reading as per the case).

There is a mod by icarus_allsorts on MTS that allows you to set the number of servings (amongst other things): Cook With Any Ingredient

Cassie, thank you for your reply.
I have the mod of icarus_allsorts, I wrote above that I like very much the option it has with the prompt to choose number of servings, but the main function of the mod is the cooking with choosing ingredients and inventory, which is something I would like to avoid.
Thank you

I'm very sorry, I don't know how I missed that. I understand not wanting to scroll through an inventory full of produce for every meal. Apologies for wasting your time.

Hm, as far as I know you can use Any ingredient to cook, you don't need to search for decent ones or buy all. If your eim wants to cook and you don't like it, you can resume.
You can change the group serving number also to 2 or 3.
But maybe you need this in addition , so your sims will first choose meals from the fridge before cooking

Cassie, please don't apologize, you were kind to reply to my post, I wrote a lot and it's easy to miss something. I replied "wrote above" in order not to repeat again and make the reply large too, just to redirect.
I am sorry if it seemed otherwise. I thank you for taking the time to read and reply.
C-Dark, Thank you for your reply.
I downloaded that mod to direct them to the leftovers. I'll check it out.
I usually direct the cooking, that is not an issue, I stop their action if they try to cook on their own. But I would like to reduce the servings, but only for my sims, not the entire town.
The icarus_allsorts mod is to cook all meals, any time, with chosen ingredients. And it opens a menu with a list of inventory ingredients, which is usually very long in my case, and takes a lot to reach the end to chose the buyfromstore, etc. And it's not something I want, it's for playing chefs and bistros, etc. It has a tuning package, but that does not hide the ingredients choice list.
I guess that if I don't find a way to apply a similar prompt to that of icarus_allsorts mod or a way to reduce servings just for the active household, then I will just have to throw food from the fridge. ))

hm, really I use the cook with all ingredients and it takes 10 seconds to choose 2 or 3 ingredients.
And I love to get all meal options, at home for my actives.
You may should reduce your inventory.
Do you ever used sort inventory by on the fridge, so equal name objects are nested in one item folder?

you can also tune the fridges to reduce spoiling time. Maybe look in Retuner too.
Here is a tuning mod, you can look into the package for name.
Or use it and change the times https://modthesims.info/download.php?t=394711

Another option is to give the leftovers away to hungry sims in town and/or host some dinner parties.

C-Dark, a good idea to change the spoiling time. I'll look into it, thank you.
All the inventories' similar items are grouped up per item, fridge, bookcases, sims, etc. The fridge contains only the meals, so it's pretty empty.
But my sims have usually all the books in the world they could carry, in double and triple sometimes...(although I regularly put the books back in the bookcases as often as I can), guitars, balls, dna samples (when they have science skill), etc, plus the wood from wood cutting (ani's whittle mod) and since usually garden and make nectar and fish, my sim might have in his inventory around 30-40-50 or more different types of fruits, vegetables, fish, plants...
So, when the spaghetti recipe says that it needs tomato, and the list of the different fruits, vegetables, plants, fish, etc of my sim's inventory opens up (veryyyy long list, grouped up) and the damn tomato is at the end of it, uhmmm, I'm like, ok, I think I'll send him to a restaurant to eat next time... (patience and I are not getting along very well, lately)
