My sincere apologies if this isn't the kind of question allowed here. I really value this community!I’m trying to make an apartment for my sim using Late Night’s hidden doors. I’ve placed the hidden door markers and the community markers and enabled testingcheatsenabled true but when I Ctrl+Shift on the door it just brings up a rotation icon which rotates the screen. I'm wondering if Ctrl+Shift doesn't work for me because I'm on a mac. While Shift clicks works, Ctrl+Shift doesn't seem to bring up a menu. Is another combination of keys required to bring up the menu?
Are there any mac users that have successfully made an NPC door? Alternatively, are there other ways I can make the door an NPC door besides ctrl+shift clicking on the door.
I’m planing on Mac but using Parallels fyi.
Thanks for any advice.

The camera swivel is usually bound to the middle mouse button, it sounds like whatever keybinding you have (either through Parallels or otherwise, maybe one you forgot was in place to add functionality to a touchpad?) is mimicking a MMB input for some combination of ctrl and/or shift LMB.

This might just be a keyboard mappiing issue between the macOS and Parallels, but doesn't command(⌘)+shift on a Mac keyboard work the same as ctrl+shift on Windows?

In the 64-bit Mac version, cmd-shift-C brings up the cheat console, unlike in all other Sims games. But ctrl-shift-click works the same way as in Windows.
On the other hand, Parallels might flip cmd and ctrl as a matter of course. I would say that if cmd-shift-C brings up the cheats console for you, then it's pretty obvious the cmd and ctrl are flipped, and cmd-shift-click should work.

Cmd-shift doesn't work unfortunately.
Strangely enough, ctrl-shift-c does bring up the cheat console. But ctrl-shift click only brings up the rotate wheel.
To clarify, I am technically playing on the EA Windows platform on Mac (through Parallels).

What exactly do you see when you ctrl-shift-click? When I do it in macOS (but this is the same as in Windows), I get the Object Delete option and some others, more with objects that can be used in tombs. When I cmd-shift-click, I get the four arrows pointing in every direction, and the click itself centers the camera there. I don't see any option to rotate anything. And are you holding the item first or just clicking it while it's set down?

This could well be the problem. Middle-mouse-button camera swivel is bound to ctrl-right-click in macOS using the trackpad, and perhaps the right-click is handled differently in Parallels or on this system in general. The default in macOS is two-finger click for right-click, but you can select the bottom-left or bottom-right corner instead. (The option is in System Preferences/Settings > Trackpad.) Holding shift down doesn't change the ctrl-right-click behavior in-game.
I have no idea whether Parallels picks up the current setting from macOS when configuring itself or just has its own default settings. Point is, make sure that the way you're clicking in Sims 3 doesn't produce a right-click elsewhere in the Parallels desktop. If it does, that's the issue.

Hi all, I play on a bootcamped Intel Mac. Thank you, igazor and puzzlezaddict for all the info posted here / on AHQ, which enabled me to do so.
It’s some time since I built apartments, but I made a note of what worked for me, when setting an NPC door:
- testingcheatsenabled TRUE / restrictbuildbuyinbuildings OFF / buydebug ON
- hidden room marker inside the NPC apartment / public room marker in the area outside
- in BUY mode, shift-ctrl click the door
I’ve also made a note that the “Great Traditions” door doesn’t work well as an NPC door.
I wonder if being in buy mode is key? It feels quite counter-intuitive… Anyway, hope that works for you, too.

Thank you ALL for your help! It worked by changing my "Primary button" in settings from a left click to a right click! I have to change it back right after but it's an easy solution. Huzzah! Thank you!!
