Need Help Tracking Down Homeless Sims

Post by Sunshine_25 » February 19th, 2024, 6:42 pm

Does anyone have any tips or tricks for tracking down the location of homeless sims?

I am currently in Bridgeport. I am trying to track down a homeless sim named Brigid Steele. Brigid works as mixologist at the 501 Plasma Club. Using NRaas' MC 'status' option I was able to learn the name of the household she is in. However, no one or household in the town has that name.

I have had my sim going literally from building to building, clicking on the call boxes in an attempt to find her with no luck. I have checked each household both in 'edit town' mode and with NRaas' MC's Household feature, no such household exists.

Since I have the 'selector' mod installed, my last plan is to wait until the club closes, click on her portrait and follow her home. Plot twist, right around the time the club is closing, for a solid sim week, some issue has been happening in my active household which takes my attention away from my stalking goal.

So, if anyone has any tips on methods of tracking homeless sims, will you please share them with me.

Thanks.

Homeless sims when they aren't working don't really exist in the world. They disappear into a sort of void space where they can't be visited or interacted with. They all basically share one giant household, but it's not a physical place that you can visit. In a place like Bridgeport where there's apartment buildings, you'll usually see them go in and out of one of the buildings to give the appearance of more people living there than just the normal residents, but you can't actually visit their apartment there.

What is your actual goal with finding them?

You're probably seeing the household name as Arnett or something like that. It's not a real household in the sense that they live in town and are always on the map. Another way to put this is that following a Service or homeless Role Sim "home" when they have no home is only going to lead you to the point on the map where they disappear. Service and homeless Role Sims aren't homeless in the sense of vagrants, but are more like commuters from some unreachable out of world place.

While she is off-duty though, you could always try using MC > Invite Over to bring her into simulation and over to your active sim's house or wherever they happen to be. And you could try using MC > Add Sim to give her a proper household or add her to an existing one (only works with Role Sims as Service Sims would thus lose their service assignment immediately).

@Glimmer - I'm aware Brigid doesn't reside anywhere my sim can physically (virtually) visit. In the past, I have followed employed homeless sims, and have been led to where their 'apartment' is. Or rather, where their names appear on the apartment's call box. That's usually where I have my sims build their one-on-one relationship status with them. Other times, I have just moved them from the homeless section into the world, using NRaas MC (of course!)

My goal with finding Brigid is story completion, as I already have Rocky Tanker.

@igazor - I think I will try inviting her over. Thank you for the suggestion. After all it beats wasting time sending him to the plasma club every night. I don't want to move Brigid into town because my Bridgeport is glitchy enough with the regular residents there. I am constantly rescuing trapped sims from inside the walls of the apartment buildings they call home.

Since the game lists Rocky & Brigid as ex's (I can't determine yet if they were EA's tester sims or just 'made-up' without her help. Their design and in-game interactions point to them having been created as a testing duo). I have to have them try to build a relationship first before moving her into my active household. If they are tester sims, they should carry a bit of 'past' memory with them since EA/The Sims Team has been horrible about completely wiping/removing their learned 'past' data/memories.

Thank You.
