Script Errors

Post by Sessakag » January 20th, 2024, 7:15 pm

Hello, sorry to bother everyone, but I'm hoping someone can help with these script errors as I don't know how to read them myself. I seem to get the error trap message the most when switching active households while using Ani's apartment mod, I'll get a notice saying "a null value was found where an object instance was required." I tried doing the 50/50 method but that didn't help me narrow down any of my mods, and I also used Delphy Dashboard to look for conflicts or corruption and found nothing. Also, for anyone that is willing to help, please, if you can, keep explanations as simple as possible, I have a disability that makes it hard to retain and understand information at times, and I don't want to upset or frustrate anyone. Thank you in advance.

There was another script error that I'm not able to post because it exceeds the 60000 character max limit. If there's a way to add it, let me know since that was the most recent one I got before quitting the game.

Script Errors

Post by CardinalSims » January 20th, 2024, 7:45 pm

Hi there :)
Before the issue at hand, LazyDuchess.SmoothPatch_MasterController has got to go. It is critically broken.

These particular errors seem to be a stuck Imaginary Friend, usually in a mailbox- there is an FAQ here with some methods of nuking it. Specifically, the instructions on how to delete them from the town.

And a heads up that Mingo's Birds and Bees mod, while not the culprit here, has a few issues and can cause issues in the future.

Thank you for answering! So I take out this: LazyDuchess.SmoothPatch_MasterController completely from my package folders. Is there a replacement recommended for it or will the game be fine without it? My friend helped me set this all up, but they're not around right now, he's probably going to ask that and Idk what to tell him.

I did see notification that a imaginary friend got sent but didn't go get it out of the mailbox yet. I'll do those steps to fix it, thank you.

Which kinds of issues? Like save corrupting issues? :(

And one more question if that's alright, you don't have to answer if you'd rather not, but do you know anything about the error with the Ani's apartment switching? I think I'm using it correctly, but don't know why the error message keeps popping up when I switch active families.

Igazor's link should cover the why/how about the Smooth Patch- and yes, it will be fine without it. Both packages are actually optional, but that's the one that is outright broken.

I don't think the mod has been around for long enough to know what the longterm effects are, just that part of it was poorly coded in a way that may also get reported on in ScriptErrors. Just for future reference, if you get any logs that reference that mod that is why. Let us know if it causes any other issues for you :)

If it's just the imaginary friend error, it's possible switching household is just calling on that doll for some reason. If you are getting other errors at that time, you could upload the other ScriptError logs to a file-sharing service like Google Drive / DropBox / etc. Just make sure to make it public so others can view it and drop the link here, someone will be able to take a look.

Okay, I will keep an eye on any issues for the Birds and Bees and post them here.
I'm going to try and see if I can find the old script errors for the apartment issue, because it was occurring before the baby was born and got the doll.
I think I can figure out the Google drive step, so I'll try and set that up and come back with the link. Thank you a million times over for your help and patience. I really do appreciate it so much.

That log is just what you were warned about with the birds and the bees mod bloating saves. Afraid nothing about the apartment mod is mentioned there either. It's possible the log was overwritten as the game only writes about 10 or so logs before it removes the old ones and you'll need to try to generate the error again to get a log.
