So I haven't been able to download stuff as sims3packs for a while now, so I've had to download everything as packages - but the thing is I'm trying to download some worlds and it's just not working - I managed to install a world as a package before (even if it took a few game loads to show up) so I know it's theoretically possible, but even though I'm pretty sure I'm following the same steps (move largest package to gamedata/nonpackaged/worlds, rename it to worldname.world, put everything else in mods folder, the world never actually installs as a world - if anyone could provide any assistance i'd really appreciate it

Are these custom worlds or EA store worlds?
I know the latter need to be decrypted for the packages to be editable, but I'm not 100% sure on if that is a requirement for the world to show up.

Why are .sims3packs not working? I've seen some discussion about the launcher breaking for EA App installs, is that the case?
I recently did a lot of testing on the best way to install worlds, but unfortunately the method I ended up with still involves running one part through the launcher. It's a lot tidier than the gamedata way, but obviously is of no help for those whose launchers don't work.

Can you give a link to a custom world which does not show up even placed in the game installation path? So I can test it?

I genuinely have no clue why sims3packs aren't working - only that when I try to install anything at all via the launcher, it's perpetually loading and I have to restart the game completely just to get it to launch after a failed attempt to install a sims3pack

I'm not sure about the .sims3pack, but I was able to get that world to appear with the same method you described.
The only thing that comes to mind is to make sure you have actually changed the file extension and it hasn't accidentally been named worldname.world.package?
Maybe take a screenshot of the file and its install location so we can see if anything is amiss.

That's a good idea. Annabelle, do you have "show file extension" activated in your explorer options?

You can see from that image that the ones with the green S3PE icon don't consider themselves to be .world files.
In the top ribbon of the File Explorer, if you go to the View tab there is a checkbox for 'File name extensions' that can be enabled to show the extension by default, which will reveal that these have actually been named Taipanglushi.world.package etc
