Oh OK, I understand. Well, then I guess it's not worth trying... I guess I have to keep searching then. I guess this game have millions of players so there must be another forum somewhere... or maybe they don't care...

Certainly give it a try, who knows. Maybe I haven't found the right server and group of people, but maybe you will :) Discord is free to use, any how, so no harm in giving it at least a chance.

So I did join.

I did not know what server to join but I did try the Sims Café. It looked like a big mess though... Any suggestions on where to go?

OK, so that was "a big mess" I did take another look at the Cefé and the official Discord but that was a big mess... Imagining enter a room whit 20 people randomly scattered around discussing 10 different topics. I want structure and it does not seem to be an option over there. I did get some examples of servers to check out but finding them was impossible. (The only search option I did find was Disboard.org). So one step forward, two steps backwards. As always...

It'll definitely always have the chatroom vibe- being a chatroom and all- but how structured a server is will vary between them. I'm not a public server type of person, but I have personal servers with individual friends that are decked out with tidy categories, so I do know it's possible for them to be more structured.

Most servers are invite/link only, so it's totally normal to not be able to query the majority of them. You usually need to start from whatever site or blog it's associated with, where the invite link will be. On ModTheSims for example, if you click the Community tab there is a Discord option that takes you to Tashiketh's invite.
I've never joined, even though I've made over 440 posts at MTS in exactly a year to this day, because if I were to assign myself sim traits Neurotic and Coward would certainly be in there :P

Knowing it works like that might help you scour some more.
It's also free to make your own, if you just want to make one that has all the sections and topics you desire. You could put the invite link in your signature at other forums, like here and the EA one, until some more users join. Sometimes when you want your cake and to eat it too, you have to bake it yourself. That has been the driving force in pretty much everything I've ever made.

I've been looking into hosting options myself, but that's a project that will be a long time coming.

Hello.

I asked the questions on Carl&Pam's if someone was active on Discord and someone suggested me to check out the server of "glovely1" and added a link that did not work. I had to google and go into the Discord through her Twitch. Very inconvenient! But the server seems to be OK though. I just find out that she is a member on the official the Sims forum so I will write her a message now asking some questions about Discord.

So I did join the server Planet Sims, the server from "glovely1", and it seems OK. Maybe a little slow but nice.

I did spend some more time searching online and stumbled upon a forum simply called SimForum (.de). it's a german forum powered by simtimes (.de) a german sims community. As you can understand the forum is in German, a language I can speak and understand but can not write text in (mumbles bad words about my very non pedagogic language teacher). It seems very nice though. Tons of picture threads, coll friendly members and interesting topics. But I do not know if I'm allowed to join and write in English or not (a wild guess: No!). Maybe we have some members her from that forum... I did send a mail to the admin and a moderator but so far no answers...

I totally agree with the general tone of the conversation. I wander around here, boolprop, and mts forums, plus I'm active on tumblr, but there's a conversation that should be happening that is hard to find.

There are some forum threads that have the kind of casual conversation about the game that can be fun. "What did you discover today?" on MTS is reasonable active and fun: https://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=349023

This reminds met to hang out on some of these threads more.

Tumblr is active, and I don't really know why it doesn't foster a more conversational atmosphere. I've had to work for the conversations that I have there. Considering how active the community is, sometimes it can feel quite isolating.

I'm not sure I do read your post correctly but I guess that's because of me not you.

Anyway, I don't seem to get any answers to the mails I did send to the SimForum staff members. Yeah, I might be a little impatient but still. Worst case scenario is that the spam post filtesr in my Yahoo and Gmail that blocks them (I have seen it before  )...

Yes, I do know about the threads on MTS but I won't be writing anything in that forum section ever again. There have been far to much drama going on there in the past... (No, I won't talk about it here). But thank you anyway! :)

Tumblr's design innately makes real discussion difficult. The notes structure is just a list, and if there is any back and forth it's hard to see. Nothing beats an old fashioned news group or forum for conversation.
