I'm playing on a longer lifespan and noticed when I send my teens to prom I end up missing work with my teenager who has a part time job at the science center. I also noticed there are no days off for this job (not a big deal considering he's a workaholic and the hours but I figured its worth mentioning.
He gets all the days off for holidays, so is there a way for him to get a day off for prom? I gave him the vacationer perk so he wouldn't get penalized but he still gets scolded by the adults.

If you are running NRaas StoryProgression, there is a setting that automatically grants teens the day off from work when a prom is scheduled during their work hours. NRaas > SP > General Options > Optons: Grads/Proms.Curfew > Prom Day Off from Work > (default is True). (SP Career add-on module required)
A less automatic way is to give all teens who would be working at that time the day off by way of MasterController very early in that day. It's under MC > Sim > Intermediate > Career > Days Off. (MC Cheats add-on module required). Note that if you add a day off this way and they weren't already scheduled to work that evening, then they will be given the next workday off instead.

Thank you! I'll I've added it and will be testing tomorrow when it isn't so late where I am.
Why is it an add on to sp and not default in careers? is it because the main game doesn't give days off?

The Careers mod is a loader for custom careers, afterschool clubs, and university majors. None of these things have code that is aware of anything that takes place outside of a sim's employment (or club activity) like holidays, weddings, parties, proms, graduations, snow days, births and deaths, etc.
So as another admittedly slightly more far-fetched example, if a sim gets really sick or dies it's not up to the career for them to not get into trouble for missing work. Other forces need to step in to prevent that and in the case of death ultimately remove them from the career assignment.

The entire category of options won't show if there's no options available to display under it. This can be for a few reasons:
- You have not added the SP Career add-on module (and cleared the script cache); all of the options in that category require either SP Career or SP Extra (the latter being for curfew options).
- You haven't let the game run for a few sim minutes before checking. Script Mods need some game clock time, not much, to fully load.
- You aren't actually using SP for story progression. The mod doesn't do much if progression is not enabled and in control of the currently being played world. SP > General Options > Enable Progression > (must be True).
- You are playing in a world that has no schools. That seems the least likely as then there wouldn't be any proms either.
If it's the case that you aren't actually using SP for progression and do not wish to, then this isn't going to work and you will need to use the MC method to manually grant the appropriate days off.

So SP is working, and I down loaded the careers module for it. I know it is working because I am getting new alerts about shake ups and who is whose boss.
What I don't see is the prom and graduation point, I see nraas careers as it's own menu, and an sp careers menu. I was able to use the day off work around I think, but prom also landed on love day which may have made that a moot point. My teenager did go to work the following day.
Would screen shots of what I see and my mod folder help the next time I play? Or is there another component I may be missing?

Have you cleared (deleted) the scrptCache file since adding the SP Career module? On the screenshott of your Mods folder contents, yes please do.

No I didn't! I did when I reinstalled carreers, but that was a different opening of the game.
I'll make sure to do that when I next play
