Homemaker career not working?

Post by Rick_Cottontree » February 8th, 2024, 7:36 am

Hello,

I'm having trouble getting the Homemaker career to work. My sim isn't gaining any experience even though she has five toddlers and keeps them all happy and serves meals regularly. She has the Neat trait so I use the "Clean House" interaction at least 2-3 times per day, so everything is clean most of the time. Nobody ever gets a stressed moodlet and nothing's on fire or anything else that might give me a negative score. And yet I don't gain any experience, I don't get paid anything, and my grade at the end of the week is an "F."

It seems it was working for me previously in other short-lived playthroughs I've used the career on. I would gain experience and get a government payment every once in a while. But with this save it doesn't seem to work. Actually, it did appear to be working early on, I gained some experience and got paid a couple of times, but then suddenly I was graded an F and demoted back to zero and nothing has worked since that point. I even tried quitting the career and re-joining it, but that doesn't seem to have helped. I haven't tried reset sim yet.

I am using Gamefreak's Job Overhaul as well as Awesome mod, if that makes any difference. Other than those and few of my own tuning files, I don't think I have any other mods installed besides NRAAS Careers that touch career function in any way, certainly nothing that relates to custom careers. The only edits I made to the NRaas.Homemaker xml was to cut the stipend in half, since I like to play with a harder difficulty.

Any ideas?

Homemaker career not working?

I just noticed the Download Report option on the computer. Maybe the mod is working and I'm just not as good of a homemaker as I thought I was.:D

I guess I need to go back and re-read the Homemaker FAQ to figure out what I'm doing wrong. It's hard keeping up with five toddlers (had triplets unexpectedly), but I thought I was doing relatively well.
