When are kiss interactions supposed to show up in romance menu?

Post by kimlupai » April 20th, 2019, 1:46 pm

Hi

I've just set up a new game where my sim is using woohoo has her muse for her painting. The guilt from woohooing with married sims, the experience of woohooing with older or younger sims. The thrill of woohooing with occult sims.... all getting poured into her art. However I've been playing around with the woohooer settings and I think I've broken something.

At the moment the kiss, dip kiss and ask to watch the stars interactions aren't showing up until they are at friend level and at very alluring. I'm sure that's not how it works in my other games. I've gone through the interactions over and over but I'm not seeing where I've messed up. Under the romance section, all interaction levels (married, romance & steady) are set to default and I'm assuming that's what governs when the kiss etc interactions show up? The woohoo, risky and TFB interactions are showing all the time.

I don't know if it could be my sim that's broken, she's irresistible but every single time she's used the 'blow kiss' interaction it's failed. I know she's not going to be successful every time but for it to fail all the time seems odd. I've tried resetting my sim and resetting the town, but that doesn't seem to have done anything.

Would anyone have any ideas other than scrapping the town and starting over? (Which honestly I'd rather not do as I spent quite a bit of time customising the community lots so she could *ahem* find her muse anywhere around the town.)

Thank you for any help.

My goodness, you guys set up a lot of new games. Can't you all start one game and play it for eight years like the rest of us do? Or am I now the only one left who does this and there is no "the rest of us"? (hears crickets) :P

Try changing the Interaction Level for Romantic to Any instead of Default. In this context, I think Default means EA Standard. Also, if you are using the Scoring module and Trait Based Scoring, perhaps Romantic Liking Gate for User Directed and Trait Scoring for User Directed should both be False (I think they are by default, though).

For whatever it's worth though, my sims cannot walk up and kiss someone without them being at least Friends and reach at least Alluring on the Short Term Context unless the one initiating has a trait like Inappropriate (those sims can try to smooch anyone, whether it's received well or not may be a different matter) or maybe Insane. Long-Term partners can do (almost) everything they like together without much warmup needed if they are highly attracted to each other and have a great relationship. I play so many different kinds of sims all at once that it can be difficult to strike the right balance with these things across all sims in a given world.

If that's no help, try turning on Woohooer's Debugging function with your sim and another in the same room but with the game clock paused. What does it say for the tooltip on the "missing" kiss interactions that should now appear but be greyed out as unavailable? Be sure to switch Debugging back off again before resuming play as it will generate unnecessary logs on all sims in town and tends to drag down performance while doing so.

Thank you igazor, given your third paragraph, it might be that I'm expecting too much. For some reason I thought that the kiss and watch stars interactions etc were available at all relationship levels as long as the conversation was alluring or whatever. I will try changing the interaction levels though. It just seems weird that my sim can woohoo with complete strangers or acquaintances but not kiss or make out with them. That's why I wondered if I'd broken something or if my town was bugged.

I did try turning on the debugging but the kiss interactions didn't show up on the pie menu even then. The propose and ask to go steady interactions appeared (greyed out) but not the kiss etc.

I'd rather not give my sim the inappropriate trait but perhaps the inappropriate (can't remember it's proper name) LTR might work the same way?

Sorry if I'm not making much sense, I think I'm fighting off a cold or something as I'm very muzzy headed at the moment.

As for not starting new games, does it count if I have games that I think are around 8 years old that I intend to go back to some day if only I can stop starting new games all the time? :P

Now that seems unexpected to me. I thought everything was supposed to show up there with Debugging on, even things that at times make absolutely no sense like Ask to the Prom (if you have GEN) or Jetpack Woohoo (if you have ITF). Might you have a mod or mod setting in play that is supposed to move kissing to the Friendly menu? Does it matter if you break the link between Woohooer and SP, if you have it set?

The LTR (from WA) is Inappropriate But in a Good Way. That's to allow guests to clean, use a shower, and things like that which otherwise their hosts might object to. I don't think it covers kissing.

Hope you feel better soon and yes, it's difficult to concentrate on certain aspects of the game when so affected.

I'm actually playing in a relatively mod free game. Well when I say relatively mod free game... it's relatively mod free by my standards. ;) I have all of the NRaas mods in play. However I don't have many other mods. Most of icarus_allsorts, some of Buzzler's, a couple from TFM, Bluegenjutsu and Shimrod but that's about it. None that should affect romance or kissing.

In my other games I usually have the link between woohooer and SP set but in this one I have kept them unlinked. I thought that would make it easier for her to woohoo other sims.

I think I'm going to start a test game and maybe try another sim in this game to see if it's the town/my sim that's broken or if I'm just remembering things wrong and things are working as intended.

I just checked on two teen housemates who have no attraction towards each other (and shouldn't) and you're right, the Debugger doesn't show kissing at all. Sorry about that, though I'll check it elsewhere later when I have other sims in active play. One of the others I never see does show up, Be Frisky, though and the tooltip on that one says "Not Romantic." That seems reasonable since I think that one is intended for newlyweds. The various forms of woohoo are denied due to Liking Gate Fail, but that's because of my other settings. These two sims are not enemies exactly, but if I "made" them woohoo with each other they would probably attack me. Or at least they wouldn't enjoy it very much. :)

Sorry, wish I could have been of better help than that.

Edit: Hey, here's an idea. What if you were to give your sim the Great Kisser trait? Would the kissing interactions then show up earlier under Special?

Thank you for checking igazor. I've just tried another sim in the same town and I'm getting the same results. With no kissing and no ask to watch the stars interactions appearing. My sim does have the Great Kisser trait and at one point she did have the kiss and make out interactions available under the special menu even when they weren't available under the romantic menu. Just for info, she also has Flirty, Artistic, Irresistible and Commitment Issues traits. While I was playing just now I tried changing her Irresistible trait to Charismatic, that made no difference so Irresistible got added back as a social group trait.

I just find it really weird because I could have sworn that the ask to watch the stars interaction was available most of the time, even though I'm obviously wrong about the kiss interaction. I guess all my previous sims have had higher relationships with their potential romantic partners than I realised.

*edit*
Quick update. I just started a new game. I didn't make any changes to the woohooer settings. I grabbed Jaycen Hendrix in Lucky Palms and set him to chatting up some women. First lady he visited, Marisol, it turned out she was a distant friend, They chatted for a while, no kissing under the romantic options. Once they became friends rather than distant friends and got the conversation up to alluring, he had the first kiss option come up. I thought this was interesting because I don't recall seeing the first kiss interaction pop up for my original sim (Abigail). Just in case this was a fluke because he and Marisol were distant friends, I sent him out hunting again, this time for someone he didn't know - boy was it hard to find someone he hadn't seduced previously! But he did find Darleen M at the salon and had the same results. No kissing options until they were friends and were at alluring in the conversation and at that point the first kiss option came up.

Something still feels off in my game though, it's taking longer to load than it was, so tomorrow I think I'm going to try taking out all mods except NRaas and try the 50/50 method to see if something has got corrupted or is interfering in some way.

Watch the stars is only available at night, unless you change the settings for it. I don't remember where they are, but I know I saw a setting for the starting and ending hours somewhere while searching for something else.

Watching the stars being only available at night - I'm an idiot. I can't believe that didn't occur to me. Please can I plead that this cold I've got lurking has made me particularly dense?

Thank you for clearing that one up.

Until I saw the settings for it it hadn't occurred to me either. I blame it on my fibromyalgia brain fog, so I consider your cold valid too.
