Sims can't flirt?

Post by honestlyvitali » February 24th, 2019, 12:41 am

I'm not sure if this is a problem caused by the Woohooer or something else, but I thought I'd ask here since that's the only mod I have that should affect romance... I think.

I had two Sims who were romantic interests, one flirty/commitment issues and one a hopeless romantic. They were max relationship and doing fine. However, now they suddenly can't flirt? The only romantic interaction they have is "take a romantic photo". They used to have all the basics one (jump into arms, amorous hug). I don't think there is a way to get them married or going steady now.

I've tried resetting the sims, resetting the town, moving them out of the house, making them angry at each other and rebuilding their relationship, being friendly repeatedly (something "X thinks Y is being flirty" will pop up, but vanish for "X thinks Y is being okay" a moment later). Another male sim did get flirty options with the girl after being friendly for a few interactions.

Any help or ideas?

An ordinary sim is not meant to have this occult state. Woohooer gates against romance with those who have it because trying to seduce Emit Relevart tends to cause the game to explode, which is why it seemed to be fighting back on you.

Sims can't flirt?

Do you also have NRaas Story Progression installed? If so, check the following setting in Woohooer:-
City Hall > NRaas > Woohooer > General > Link To Story Progression
Whether to check settings in StoryProgression when any type of friendly or romantic social interaction is performed
Default: True

Try changing it to 'False'. :-)

----

Edited to add:-
Actually, it may work by changing a different setting. Leave the one above on 'True' and change the following one instead:-
City Hall > NRaas > Woohooer > General > Check Story Progression For User-Directed
Whether to check the settings in StoryProgression when attempting to perform a user-directed interaction
Default: True
Hidden by "Link To Story Progression" = "False"

Change this one to 'False'. :-)

Sims can't flirt?

Thanks for the reply! I tried what you said, but I'm still having the same issue. I removed a few mods I thought MAYBE might have been having an effect, but no luck. Here are some other things I tried.

1) Resetting them to strangers in NRaas: gave the guy back his special > flirty options (dirty joke, for example) but they could only be best friends. Nothing romantic.
2) Married them via NRaas. Got options like "fret over commitment", but none of the regular romance options (only "take a romantic photo"). Doing the photo a lot eventually brought the "X thinks Y is being flirty" notice back, but no new options. Also brought up the "wants to kiss Y" wish, but there doesn't seem to be a way to have them kiss.

I recently downloaded Story Progression too, since you mentioned it, but no real change.

EDIT: And I double checked for other couples, two of their housemates (best friends) could do all the romance options, go steady, and even them propose marriage. It's just these two who aren't cooperating >: /

Sims can't flirt?

This is a real longshot, but worth asking. Is it possible that these two sims are or have become related to each other? For example, might a parent of one now be dating or partnered with a parent of the other whereas they were not before?

If that's not it, then we need some more information. When the two sims are in the same room, please switch on Woohoo'er debugging utility with NRaas > Woohooer > General > Debugging > True. This will unlock ALL of the romantic interactions on the user menu, except the ones not showing up for use will be greyed out. Of course some of them would be impossible to use anyway, but if you mouse hover over ones that should be expected to show, what does the tooltip pop-up say for the reason?

When finished, be sure to switch Debugging off again or else it will start producing endless debug logs on the entire town that we don't need and that will drag game performance down.

Sims can't flirt?

Alright, I did that, and almost all of them say "Time traveller fail". I have noticed the guy has had some of the time traveller options, even though he hasn't ever time travelled to my knowledge (though he could have autonomously when I left him alone I guess).

Going steady/propose marriage has STC Fail OK.

STC Fail I understand, that means Short Term Context is not high enough to support/allow those actions. You know, we have to chat our sims up romantically and progress through Sim A thinks Sim B is okay, being flirty, alluring, irresistible before some of those actions will even show; for the most part we can't walk a sim right into a room and propose (or woohoo, for that matter).

But the Time Traveler fail is taking me by surprise. Does MC show that either of these sims has the hidden Future Sim trait? Or even more interesting, the Time Traveler occult state -- Emit Relevart is supposed to be the Time Traveler and sims aren't meant to be romantic with him. I think that's the gating showing up here, although of course it's totally misplaced if neither sim has that occult state. Our developer will have to comment on this part when he gets to this thread.

I think I narrowed it down that the guy is the problem, since the girl can flirt with other people.

Neither has the Future Sim trait according to the trait list in NRaas, but I'm not sure how to check occult status. I think the male sim might be a Time Traveller occult state though? That would make sense.

I'm not sure how I did it. I have done a few minor things messing with traits (he have seven rather than five, for example), but I didn't think I touched anything like that. He was just a regular human as far as I knew. :-o

Ahh that fixed it! He was indeed a time traveller. Removing that occult statue brought all his options back. Thank you so much for the help! I was worried I was going to have to delete him.

I have no idea how this happened, but now I know how to fix it if it ever happens again. Thanks again!
