For kajarvi14

Original Post:
Hello,
I'm having issues with my game. It crashes all the time, and my custom content is not the issue. I recently did the 50% method, and everything is now clean. However, my game crashes worse than it did before I did it.
These script errors pop up as soon as my game boots up, and I'm not sure if they have answers as to why my game is crashing all the time. Any insight is appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi there, and welcome to NRaas. In the future, please open up your support threads on the relevant mod issues message board. What you did was create a new wiki page (now deleted). We can see your script error uploads and whom they are from, so it's not difficult to match them together.
http://nraas.wikispaces.com/page/messag ... r%20Issues

It's okay to post on the general Chatterbox board if you aren't sure which mod is responsible.
<a class="wiki_link_ext" href="http://nraas.wikispaces.com/page/messages/Chatterbox" rel="nofollow">http://nraas.wikispaces.com/page/messages/Chatterbox</a>

The script log you uploaded is not an error, it's some kind of debugging log from Woohooer. Check NRaas > Woohooer > General > Debugging. This should be set to False unless someone from here instructs otherwise during a troubleshooting session.

Any other logs that might actually be errors from any of the other mods, especially ErrorTrap?

As for the crashes, do all of your worlds do this or just the one? If you start up a test game in a known to be gentle to play EA world such as Sunset Valley, Twinbrook, or Riverview, does the same thing happen?

Without any further information from script error logs that might actually be errors, the next suggestion would be to attempt such a test game with NRaas mods in play only, no package based CC or mods of any other kind, and caches cleared. If you still get crashes that way, then with no mods at all or maybe just Overwatch and ErrorTrap. We're kind of flying blind here, not knowing what else you have in play other than Woohooer at the moment.

And if still no go with minimal or no mods, then the Clean Folder Test. Pull your entire TS3 game folder out of documents to your desktop for safekeeping, thus forcing the game to create a new one on its next launch. You will have no installed content of any kind, worlds, saved sims, saved games, or mods this way but they will all be safe back in the pulled out folder. Can you get a test game going and saved on the Clean Folder? If so, then redo the Framework on it so it can accept Package files and test with NRaas mods only again. Any better?

I've posted the actual crashing problem on the EA Answers forum. I put:

"I'm having a bit of a problem. I have a custom built computer with 16GB of RAM, and my game crashes every single time I play. I also have CC and mods, but it's all clean. I did the 50% method and deleted anything that may have posed a problem.

For the past 4-5 months, my game would crash after a half hour of playing in Live Mode. It never crashed in Create A Sim or in Buy/Build mode. As of this week, my game's performance has gotten significantly worse, crashing in Buy/Build Mode, or when I press the button for Live Mode. I don't understand what the issue could be, because all of my custom content is clean and my computer is (as far as I'm aware of) well above the specs it calls for to play. Essentially, I'm at a loss. I'm usually really good at fixing issues, but this one is unfixable for me.

Can anyone help me? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks."

Sorry, our posts crossed each other just now. We could also take a look at your hardware setup, that would have been the next step after ruling out mods, CC, and Game Folder breakage. Please find the file called DeviceConfig.log in your Game Folder, open it in a text editor such as Notepad, and copy/paste the first 40 lines or so into a response here. You can stop when it gets to the game options settings or paste the whole thing if that's easier.

But let's see what the minimal and then fresh Game Folder tests reveal for us, if anything.

I know I'm giving you several things to try/discuss at once, sorry, but let's focus on the hardware for a moment. You have a GTX 960 graphics card. What steps have you taken to limit its frame rate? TS3 does not have a built-in fps limiter like more modern games do. The newer cards will run wild if unchecked and can lead to screen tears, graphics glitches, crashes, and can even overheat and damage themselves and your system board. If you run a frame rate test while playing, either from the fps on cheats console command or by some other means, what kind of fps rates are you getting as you play and move the game camera around?

We can also talk about getting that card formally recognized by the game, which right now it is not, but the fps check is more important first.

I found your EA Answers board posts and yes you are correct, Crash Log Analyzer does not work on Patch 1.69. There is an updated version of CLA available, but that one is currently broken as well. The new developer who took it over is struggling to get that fixed, but that may take a while as they have a bit of a learning curve in front of them.

I haven't taken any steps to fix the fps, because I'm not quite sure how. What is the fps cheat I should try in game? Getting the card recognized in game seems important, so let's get that out of the way as well :)

Strangely enough, the fps limiting thing is much more important so let's focus on that first. The game is still using your graphics card, it just isn't recognizing its potential (and never will fully because the card is so powerful) though some players do get performance improvements from doing this.

Using the Nvidia Control Panel's 3D settings, you want to limit the game's frame rate to the refresh rate of your monitor with vsync set to Adaptive or On. Usually that's 60 fps as most monitors are 60 Hz, but there are some (rare) higher running ones out there and of course you could be playing on a television as a screen or something so you would have to know if it can be higher. Make sure to use the correct executable or this won't be effective, it's TS3.exe for Patch 1.69 (not TS3w.exe). See this screenshot from a helpful Tech Responder on the EA forums:
http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discuss ... t_14991412

After doing this, to test the fps you are actually getting in-game, once you have a game running bring up the cheats console (ctrl+shift+c) and type fps on (enter). The rate you see displayed near the top of the screen should never wander far above 60 as you play and move the game camera around. To make the displayed value go away, cheats console again and fps off (enter).
