My sims are not attracted to each other.

Post by CMThomas1987 » June 20th, 2016, 2:46 pm

My sims are not attracted to each other AT ALL (level 1 out of 10) and I don't understand why.

They have many similar traits -
Sim 1:
Ambitious
Animal Lover
Brave
Family Oriented
Handy
Hopeless Romantic
Nurturing
Sim 2:
Animal Lover
Bookworm
Family Oriented
Hopeless Romantic
Neat
Nurturing

They have compatible signs -
Both Virgos

They are currently engaged, living together, have been in a faithful relationship for 35 days, and both have the "Eternally Faithful" moodlet.

Also, both sims are slender and in shape.

So why are they not attracted to each other?!

I've made sure that their gender preference is correct, but still nothing. I've also set the Attraction Base Chance Scoring to 100, but that doesn't work either. Is there a setting I'm missing?

Please help a frustrated simmer in need! Thank you! :)

Hi there, and welcome to NRaas.

I believe what you are seeing is a slight math error with the attraction formula when scaled to the 1 to 10 range. Others report different results, but in my sims' case I either get all 1s or all 10s when I know those can't be right, especially on the 1s when they get the Attractive Sim moodlet showing up as it always should.

Much more accurate would be the Scan Room interaction when the two sims are, of course, in the same room. Click on the active sim to find it. Anything under 100 for results on that one and there may be an issue after all this time. But sims who have been happy together for as long as yours have tend to score much higher. My Eternally Faithful couples with Kama Simtra skills and at least one trait in common can easily score over 350 for each other. Some players have sims scoring well into the 700 and 800s, but I think those are more the exception and will depend on how other settings are arranged.

Note though that with Scan Room you aren't likely to get exactly the same results twice in a row. There is an element of randomness to that one and some of the score will depend on conditions and how your two sims feel at that very moment. But unless something unusual is happening in their relationship, it should stay within the same range, more or less, much of the time.

You might want to dial the Attraction Base Chance Scoring back down unless you want all age-appropriate sims in your game to be attracted to each other.

By the way, you hadn't mentioned this, but if you are having trouble getting these two sims to woohoo the problem is probably not attraction but more that they are both Family Oriented though not married yet.

Thank you for your help!

I've never used the Scan Room option before, but I did it just now, and their rating is at -175! Yikes! Is there anything I can do to correct this?

I don't have any difficulty getting my sims to woohoo, so that's not an issue. I also put the Attraction Base Chance Scoring back down to 0 because I obviously don't my sims being attracted to everyone/anyone else, I would just like to see that my faithful couple are attracted to each other.

Negative 175? Will have to defer to a coder, but I didn't even think scan values of less than 0 are even possible, so until told otherwise am going to assume that's really 175 regardless of how it's showing. The worst I have ever seen is on two sims who could/should not possibly be attracted to each other and that would be 0, it never really gets worse than that. A positive 175 is a healthy enough score for a committed couple though it could be a bit higher, again getting them to marry might help. I would possibly be concerned if they were in a crowded room together and the Scan Room showed something like 400 for other sims around them at the same time, though.

But if it's really a high negative, I would wonder if some other Woohooer setting or mod is getting in the way. Do other couples in your game rank differently? You could switch actives just as a test and then quit without saving to find out. Do you have any other mods from other sources in play that are supposed to control the attraction formula?

Otherwise, if your sims are woohooing (with each other of course), it can't really be the case that they aren't attracted to each other at all. Do they get the Attractive Sim moodlet when in each other's presence? If they are behaving as if they are attracted to each other enough, there really isn't anything to fix here except don't run the Consider Attractiveness romantic social command since it's not returning accurate results. I just stopped using it altogether most of the time.

Well it definitely did say -175, but hopefully it really is just meant to be 175. My couple is now married, but it's the same deal - and when I use the Consider Attractiveness, it's still at zero. Next time I'm playing I'll test the Scan Room with other sims around to see if there's an attraction for anyone.

I am thinking that I've messed with some sort of setting though, like you've suggested. I have other sims that I play with (in different neighborhoods, so a different save) that are constantly attracted to other sims and other sims are attracted to them (and it seems to always be a score of 10), so it would make sense to me that I've just changed the setting on something without realizing what it did, because I do believe I attempted to change settings quite some time ago to ensure that these particular sims would remain faithful to each other. I've been going through as many setting as I can think of lately, but I can't seem to find anything that it might be.

As I mentioned before, I have no problem getting my sims to woohoo with each other. However, they don't get the Attractive Sim moodlet, which is disappointing. They still get wants/wishes to interact intimately with each other, so realistically, I know it doesn't matter that I'm being told they aren't attracted to each other, because they act as though they are. It's just disappointing I guess.

As of right now I only have the Woohooer Base Mod and Kama Simtra mod downloaded, but I was going to download the Woohooer Scoring mod as well to see if that would fix my problem. Do you know if it would?

Thank you again so much for your help - I really appreciate it! :)

Do you have any tuning mods that affect the EA attraction system?

The Woohooer Scoring module might help, I would certainly recommend it for its flexibility and enhanced options. But just adding it in now might make this more complicated to figure out. I would want to know more about this negative scan score thing, if it's really negative or just a display issue on the number, and how those sims score on scans with others. And I have to suspect that a mod from another party might be in play here, as Chain and I have both said. There are a few popular ones out there that attempt to retune the attraction system. Possible?

I've just had a look through all of my mods, and I don't see anything that might be conflicting, as most of my mods are objects, clothing, hair, etc. However, these are all of the Nraas mods that I have:

Error Trap
Master Controller
Master Controller Cheats
Mover
Overwatch
Register
Relationship Panel
Saver
Story Progression
Story Progression Money
Tempest
Traveler
Woohooer
Woohooer Kama Simtra

If I had another mod installed that was conflicting with the Woohooer mod, then why am I not having this problem with any of my other sims in different neighborhoods? I feel like that would indicate that the problem is with a setting that I've messed with, rather than a conflicting mod, but I'm certainly no expert.

We aren't talking about NRaas mods, those do not conflict with each other. We meant other parties' tuning mods. Such as this one, for example, or something like it.
http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=492102

Objects and clothing are CC, not mods. The way to test this for sure is to temporarily remove all actual mods from other parties (again, not NRaas mods), clear caches, and on a test run of the game see if you get different results. If it's too difficult to figure out which package files are mods and which are objects, then it may be easier (though not necessary) to remove all non-NRaas package based files.

One thing I don't see mentioned here that speaks to the settings issue more. You have compared this behavior with sims in other worlds. But what I asked earlier on was, how do two coupled sims in this world work? Again, on a test run of your game, you could try making a different couple whom you would expect to be attracted to each other active and see what results you get on the Attractive Sim moodlet and a Scan Room. And again, I wouldn't bother with Consider Attractiveness. It just doesn't work accurately for many of us.
