Question about Register

Ok, I think I messed up somewhere in the settings, maybe ?

When I wanted to set a specific sim to a role ( cashier or stylist for example ), I used to click on the object, and then " set role ".

But now the option isn't here anymore. When I click on it it's just Nraas > Debug Enabler.

I can still assign people to the objects if I click on City Hall > Nraas > Register > Find Empty Roles.

Is there a setting I changed that have greatly displeased the way Register works ? Or is it most likely a mod conflict ?

Thank you

Have you tried refreshing the Register object menus? Sounds like some of them got stuck and aren't being generated, this can happen when new role objects are placed in relatively rapid succession.

On City Hall or an in-game computer, NRaas > Register > Apply

In addition, since you are getting a DE menu on the objects anyway, you might try doing a DE object reset on them before assigning or allowing a sim to be assigned by way of Register (once that becomes possible).

Hello :)

I'm in game now, so I just tried both of what you said and.. No difference. I assume for the reset it was just Nraas > Debug Enabler > Options : Register > Object > Reset ?

uurgh what did I do .. I've done more testing, and it doesn't appear to be a mod conflict, as I took all of my mod that weren't Nraas, cleared the caches and tried again, still no Register object menu appearing.

However. If I start a new save, there they appear. I must have changed something in the settings, but I don't know what ?

I did turn off immigration and resident assignement in Register, but I think it just prevents the mod to add sims itself, not prevent me to use it ? Is it not how it works ?

No idea what's going on with that world, but you are proceeding with troubleshooting in a logical manner. Yes, that's what I meant by the DE reset and yes the mod should still provide object menu options even if both auto-staffing settings are off. Have you tried resetting Register entirely?
NRaas > Register > Reset Settings

Or, for a deeper kind of reset, remove the mod and run the game for a while with ErrorTrap in place. After a bit (a few sim hours?) any residual data from the mod should be removed from the game save. Then put the mod back in again. And of course clear the scriptCache file after each change to the contents of Mods\Packages along the way.

I didn't try to reset it, so I'm going to do it right now. I'll do it the more in depth way, to be extra sure !

Ok. It works now, I can see the menu when clicking on the object ! So thank you a lot for this solution.

Now I need to put back my settings while checking each time to see if I don't mess it up again, I guess.

I had a tiny heart attack though while playing without Register, when the University mascot appeared at my door, I totally forgot that was a thing !

I guess the Register gods are happy again and no sim sacrifices were required to make that happen. Sorry, should have warned you about the mascot thing but glad it's all sorted out now. :)

I would happily sacrifice the mascot if needed though :p

Thanks for your help !

Ah. I guess it *might* need sim sacrifices after all.. It doesn't work anymore. This is tricky :/
