Allow Boat Routing

I was just wondering if we should have a warning on the main GoHere page regarding setting the "Allow Boat Routing" option to False in version 43? I'm reading (on tumblr) that people are trying this and not getting the desired results. After trying to help the latest victim, I checked to see if we already had a warning (thought we did) but we don't.

Didn't want to just go ahead and change it without checking first. Also, not quite sure how I would word it so suggestions would be welcome. Thanks. :-)

Sorry, I meant <a href="http://nraas.wikispaces.com/GoHere+Phase+Eight">this page</a> under the Warning section, rather than the main page. :-)

It would be better that the interaction (name) in the mod goes hidden. Less fuzz ^_^

Though a notation on the interaction page should suffice: "Keep on true, feature is broken" or something like it :P

Another notation on the mods downloads page under Warning, would be that Gohere doesn't function with the LLAMA routing system.

I usually tell people to go ahead and try the beta testing version, since the Allow Boat Routing function works much better on that one. With the usual warning about beta testing versions tending to blow up player's computers, etc. Some of them seem to like it (the new version I mean, not the subsequent explosions).

@J4Ks: Hiding the option would be a good idea. I wonder if Chain would be agreeable to that. Hopefully he'll see this thread and let us know. Not sure about just putting a notation on the interactions page though as I don't think a lot of people read through all that fine print. I don't know about the LLAMA routing problem as I've never played with those Llama's. Not even sure what they are to be honest so I wouldn't be able to write anything about them, sorry. :-)

@igazor: I told 'the latest victim' to try testing version 44c (the one I'm using) and she said it helped but since then, I've had more sims teleport into the sky than ever before! I turned boat routing back to true after that. Could just be my game though but that's a topic for another thread. I'm not that worried about it at the moment. :-)

I wish I was able to reproduce the problems but it works fine for me every time I test it. I can kill the feature if that's best though.

I get the boat routing and transport to the sky only very rarely now with v44x, whereas I recall getting them all the time on 43. Depends on the world I'm playing. Other players have reported the same. Would hate to see the feature evaporate completely since it's been more helpful in the 44 versions.

By hiding it I meant to remove the STBL string on that interaction on the V43 version. Though there are a lot out there who already has a copy, so really don't know if it's a good idea.

The V44 version, not really sure how well that one goes, tried it after the initial Test release, but still had the sky bouncing (could be still remnants of the V43) issue after that I haven't touched it.

Removing the STBL will just change it to a hash string. The option will still be there. Unfortunately there's no hope for 43, I don't usually keep stable code once I start on a new testing version.

Probably best to go with the warnings for now.

@igazor have you perchance noticed what those Sims were doing on the water before they grew wings?

On v44? Yeah, trying to take a water taxi that should never have been spawned to cross a waterway in Riverview that is too narrow with no place to land (or is the correct word dock? arrive?) on the other side. Even without the sky transport, they would have ended up just going in circles on that taxi forever anyway. Usually I catch inactives doing that or using other kinds of boats early enough and gently reset them before it becomes an issue but once or twice they have snuck around me. Maybe this sort of thing is more prevalent in worlds that have more water?

As J4Ks pointed out some time ago, I should block such obvious routes sims might want to take if the trip appears shorter than going the long way around to use a bridge. And that was a good point, but when inactives go fishing or do certain other things, they often end up in places where I wouldn't have expected to see them very frequently.
