Is there a way to set up a caste so it is automatically assigned to Sims that are not a member of a certain caste? So, basically, I have a caste that is manually assigned and I'd like all Sims automatically to be in the other caste unless manually assigned to the first caste.

It does make sense, but I do not believe there is a way to use caste membership as a filter/negative requirement for caste membership. There is usually another way to go about these things, though. For example, you could have an automatic caste that everyone (or all residents for example) belong to that has the settings you desire but give it a lower Priority than the automatic caste so if/when a sim falls into both castes only the higher Priority one will win out for the "conflicting" settings.

What is it you are expecting to do with the caste that would consist of everyone who does not have the manual caste membership?

Hrmm, that could work. I want to restrict romantic partners to people only within the manual caste (like, they can only go steady with/marry each other).

Might be missing something here, but it sounds like Romance: Allow Partner Caste would do what you require without the need for a negative option. A Disallow option shouldn't be required whenever there is a restrictive Allow option regarding castes.

Oh, good to know, thanks! I already had that set that, but didn't know it would automatically disallow partners as well. Guess that solves my problem!
