Basically what it says in the title: I have several story types I don't care about, notably Skill Increase, ticked under "Disallow Story" but they constantly show up in the daily story summary anyway. Is there another menu option somewhere I need to set?

You might want to switch off the summaries. When a story is disallowed, that means that you won't get single one at a time item notifications but the events that would have been reported on still "happen" (or at least their effects are realized).

Oh, okay- I thought it meant they'd still happen but wouldn't be reported on.

I know this is a necro but no need to start another thread about it. I haven't played Sims 3 in awhile and haven't used Nrass Mods since you guys/gals had the other website up.

Anyway - I am having a similar issue to the OP - except. I chose to disallow ALL summaries - it's been about 2 in game weeks and I'm still getting like 20-30 summary notifications a day. (I never could get this to work correctly in the past either). This is showing, skills, buying houses, break-ups, everything from what I can tell still.

I should also mention my sim has been pretty much a recluse while I've been trying to work this out - only met 3 sims. Has zero relatives/pets.

What I have installed - ugh - well having issues uploading the png (server response errors and the preview is showing up in Latin).
-error trap
-gohere
-MC
-MCc
-MCp
-OW
-SP
-SPc&r - All leaders flagged by the packages.
-SPe
-SPm
-SPr
-SPv&s - Currently no sims in this personality group.
-Tagger

Now if I could get the snipping PNG's to upload here I'd just show you the above and the ingame options that I selected. Butttttt lol.
In game I went to Town Hall > General > Stories > None
and also Town Hall > Town > scrolled down and set summaries to false.

Anyway, I think both of those should have pretty much cut off everything, but doesn't appear to be that way.

Edit - I have no other CC/mods or anything like that installed.
Edit 2 - Added some additional info above.

A summary is a report on about 20 (depends on the relevant setting) individual stories from a single SP Manager being displayed all at once after that many have already happened. You are getting 30 summaries per sim day, so that means 30 x 20 = 600 individual stories? Per sim day? That seems awfully excessive, like almost one individual story every two sim minutes so really a constant barrage of them, even if you hadn't already attempted to disallow any of them.

That's not how this is supposed to work at all. What kind of speed are you running SP's progression on and have you changed the individual speed settings of its component Managers?

Just to confirm what a summary looks like, it would go something like this (using the SP Career Manager as an example):
"1- Sim A got a bonus for hard work.
2 - Sim B got a promotion.
3 - Sim C changed jobs.
4 - Sim A has a new boss.
5 - Sim D has retired.
...
20 - Sim B got a raise."

This would all be counted as one summary; and is this what you are seeing? Or are you getting 30 individual stories of all different kinds across the different Managers, so that would be more like one or two per sim hour (not minute)?

If you have images, screenshots, etc. you wish us to see, they need to be uploaded to a third party file host and the link embedded in a forum message. This site does not support the direct upload of image files as we don't have the capacity to host them here except when our webmaster deems it necessary. But the other mods that are not SP really don't have anything to do with SP Story generation.

The master switch to shut off individual story generation is NRaas > SP > General Options > All Stories > None (as opposed to All, Friends, Enemies, Blood Relatives, etc.). It's a single setting, have you by chance missed this one? The others in the larger Options: Stories section and under Town (Household, Caste, Sim) Options are for more granular control over what and whom gets reported upon for those who want that.

Yeah, I missed the one under options. But, the first one I flipped should have stopped ALL managers and it didn't, I was getting the story summaries such as - (I haven't restarted the game since flipping this switch, and I know it builds up a queue.)

So and so had 500 sim child support payment.
promotions
break-ups
bought a house
got into a fight etc etc
All from sims I don't even know.

It's sort of like, because I met one person from the Vito household...Now I get stories for all members from that household.
I'm assuming this issue of mine is fixed because I was disabling the wrong option. So rolling to the next thing.

Not sure if you'll mind or rather have me start another thread about it, but gonna post it here anyway.

What would be the best way to setup random occult changes? Like for example I've changed the settings under immigration to allow both vampires/werewolves immigrate at a value of 20 (% I guess). So, that will get new sims the chance to become occult states. But, how would I get the towns pre-made sims to start off randomly under occult states? Is that possible? Like in Sunset Valley for example.

SP does not randomly apply occult states like EA's version of progression does. In order for a sim to be an occult, there has to be a good reason for it -- they started out of CAS or were born that way due to genetics, they immigrated in that way, they were turned in-game by some sequence of events or other. For worlds that already have a preset population that contain no occults to begin with like SV, I would suggest using MasterController (MC Cheats) to sprinkle some around manually if you do not wish to wait for new sims to arrive and mate with the existing population. If you don't like the idea of choosing them for yourself or the equivalent of rolling dice off to the side, you could use something almost random like zodiac signs or favorites to guide the decision process. Of course this shouldn't be necessary for worlds that already have some resident occults in them like Moonlight Falls or Bridgeport (for its vamps).

Not sure exactly which immigration setting you have changed to 20, but if it's SP > General Options > Options: Lots > Options: Immigration/Emigration > Chance of Occult then yes but that's a single setting to cover all of the occult states you are allowing in.

This is all fine up to a point, but if you have any further different SP or other topics to discuss unrelated to this thread I'm going to have to ask that you please start a new one or two. We seem to have veered way off course from what the original topic was here. :)

Yeah, I got the occult stuff figured out. I think I have story summaries and the full story notifications confused. I'm getting full blown stories for sims I've never met. Like they were household sims, there were 134 logs after 9 sim days. And hearing that page flipping and seeing a new notification constantly is just super annoying..lol.

So yes, I'm seeing the full story when they get a promotion and a new title, when they adopt a pet..etc etc. Settings I've turned off include -

SP > General > All Stories > None
SP > General > Options: Stories > story summary > none

Examples
Sims can't find a house story "give us a call" followed immediately by another one about them not finding a home.
Then the "Robin" leader committing a robbery.
Then another one about two sims "appear to be totally comitted to each other".

I've never even met any of these sims. How would I go about turning these notifications off?

Edit -Oh and the speed is on 3. Everything is default except what we've talked about.

I think you already have for most of them, but the stories already in the queue do need to run out before the All Stories > None and other such changes will take effect. Each SP Manager will have its own queue, some of them will move much more slowly than others. I would give it a few sim days at least to see if things quiet down on the story notification front.

The one I am not sure about is sims not finding a home. That sounds more like something the player is intended to see should they wish to take control of their town's housing situation or those that are failing inspections thus not letting sims move into them, not a story report.

All right, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. And all the work you folks have done for the Sims community.
