Aging not working

I just realized my sims aren't aging. I checked to make sure I have aging enabled through EA's system(I do), but Death: allow aging doesn't show up in my storyprogression options at all. How would I fix this?

Hi there. Is the world where active play currently is also your active sims' homeworld, or are they on a vacation or a term at Uni? The SP option will never show in foreign worlds because then there is no aging anywhere across the game.

If that's not it, then can we confirm that SP's version of progression is actually activated and in control? On City Hall or an in-game computer,
NRaas > SP > General Options > Enable Progression > True

Hello. I have a related problem, I think. If I at some point disable aging via the game's options menu, and then later re-enable it, both my played Sims as well as townies remain stuck at "never aging".

Recently, I learned that I have to click on a Sim and enter NRaas' Debug Enabler, then click 'toggle aging' to fix the issue. This is a momentous task, however, as I seemingly must do it for all Sims in town individually.

Is there a simpler way to fix it?

Nindigo - Are you relying upon what it says on the sims' info tabs to conclude that the sims are still Never Aging? It can take a while for that info to catch up to such a change, for me that could be several sim hours or even until the next save (as), total quit, and reload. The sims are still aging, it's just the info tab that is slow to catch up.

If you use MasterController, MC > Sim > Status > Personal (or Career) seems to catch up to such a change much more quickly, but there is still often a lag time where the info there might be outdated.

Thank you for replying, igazor.

I have encountered the same as you, but also a permanent stuck condition which has been saved with Sims uploaded to the bin or shared. I learned this while trying different approaches to solving the issue (evicting Sims, moving them back in, putting them in a new town, ect.). I wasn't aware that checking a Sim's status would nudge the info tab to update itself.

Hmm, do townies in your game age up as they should if you have Story Progression installed? Or do you know if the game has a known aging bug? I ask because some people seem to experience that townie children remain children for several generations. I like to read other people's Sim stories, and issues like this are sometimes mentioned when Story Progression is used.

Thanks in advance.

You're welcome, but that isn't quite what meant. I was trying to say that the info displayed in the MC > Status screens often can lag behind reality as well but it seems to catch up on its own more quickly to changes in status than the info displayed on the built-in sims info tab catches up on its own. Not that one nudges the other.

The game's own aging manager is flawed and easily falls apart. To be fair here, we're talking about EA standard where without mods inactive resident babies are typically shoved up into the toddler stage after one sim day, pregnancies can be resolved into children in worlds where babies and toddlers just don't fit the pre-defined demographics, pulling an in-game sim into CAS or giving them a makeover messes with and randomizes their total age within their current age stage, twins and triplets born on the same day have different zodiac signs, etc. We're just not meant to care about these things or that the little girl next door or the one who delivers the newspaper is the same little girl your great grandmother knew and played with long ago.

Of course, as mod users we demand better than all that. I have never had an issue with SP's aging manager with Overwatch in place to catch age-stuck usually homeless sims that just aren't being simulated when they need to be to in order to process correctly. With SP, the inactive sims around mine age precisely when I expect them to and ages freeze when I expect them to whether arranged by Town, Caste, Household, or even individual Sim Options regardless of what the info tabs and status reports might say. I don't recall having this issue with AwesomeMod either, many years ago when I used that for progression instead of SP. A potential source of confusion for some players would be sims living in foreign worlds within the same game, but it's Traveler that controls foreign world aging vs. not rather than SP.

One difference may be that I never touch the aging setting in Game Options. It's always on, even if SP dictates that the only sims allowed to age currently are birds and small furry rodents. :)

(I'm joking here, SP doesn't control birds and rodents very much. I mean even if every possible sim in town that the mod can actually reach has different aging on/off settings as dictated by the mod.)

The Game Options checkbox is a master power on/off switch and I could see where changing its setting mid-stream might possibly cause things to get stuck one way or another.

igazor: Thank you for your lengthy reply. While reading, it dawned on me that I have, in fact, experienced the issue of children skipping age stages in a modless game in order to comply with the demographics. But it was so long ago, like years ago, that I had forgotten. This makes me feel a whole lot better about SP - phew. The issue with age getting messed up after taking a Sim to CAS is also very well known to me. I never play without MC and a handful of other NRaas mods. SP is the only one I have been wary of, but no more.

Okay, I gotcha about the displayed info and that no nudging is involved. Thanks for everything!
