Overwatch - Purge Genetic Hair

I have a dumb question about Overwatch. One of the options is to purge genetic hair and the documentation says:

Purge Genetic Hair

Enables a nightly purge of new genetic hairstyles
Default: False

But what is a genetic hairstyle? Is it the reason that Sam Sekemoto, the bald toddler in Sunset Valley always ages up into the bald hair style as a child, teen and YA? Even if I change his hair to another?

If so, if I change this setting to true the bald hairstyle will be purged and Sam will keep the same hairstyle I give him - assuming it's available in the next life stage - when he ages up?

Or have I got that completely wrong?

Sorry as I said, I know it's a dumb question, but my reading comprehension skills are lacking this evening.

Thanks for any help.

P.S. If it makes any difference I generally don't have Dresser installed, unless I need it for a specific reason.

I keep coming to your thread to see if someone has answer it, but no, nothing yet, which is a shame because I too have the same dumb question!

I think it means that it'll stop them from inheriting the same hairstyle when they age up

So as the OP asks Sam Sekemoto will not be bold after growing into a child, teen etc? I have given him hair in the past as a toddler and when growing up he turns bold again, so will turning the Mod to True instead of False make Sam keep the hairstyle given by us?

Maybe or give him something different hairstyle can sometimes be inherited not really sure on it as I've never used the setting.

Well, just to be on the Mess Things Up side, I am going to change that setting on the genetic hair and see what happens.. watch this space

It means they won't inherit either of their parents hairstyles upon aging up so yes, they'll keep whatever hairstyle you assign pending it's available in the next age stage.

@kimlupai - So glad you asked that question. Some time back I tried finding a definition in the OW Interactions and all it stated was what you posted: "Enables a nightly purge of new genetic hairstyles" Meant to post asking what that meant and did not think of it again until you posted. I have added Chain's response to the interactions.
@Chain, thank you for clarifying.

With this set to false, the sims I had assigned a hair different than their parents would revert to their parents hair when they aged up. Very annoying. So I always have it set to true.

Thank you everyone for the responses, it's very much appreciated. I'm glad my question helped out some others. Now I'm going to change the setting to true and hopefully Sam will get to keep his hair. :)
