I've played the self-employed Homemaker career before, but my current sim doesn't seem to be gaining any experience for doing things around the house and lot. Cooking, cleaning, gardening, etc. I remember it working quite quickly for my last sim who was a homemaker, but this one's still just at the beginning of level 1 and doesn't seem to be getting anywhere. She's earned a whole $50 so far!
Are there settings I could check somewhere to see if I've changed something?

I've never played with it so I'm rusty in my help here but it looks like the xp is based on how much they earn and is only updated once per day. There's a pay per mark setting on city hall under homemaker. Is this set to above 0?

That's a good question! I've not been back in that game for a bit, but I will definitely have to check that out. I don't remember ever having changed it before, but I certainly could have. I went crazy on the fast immigration and allowed multiple hybrids for both townies and service personnel, including paparazzi, so now at least they don't die off much being fairies and vampires and whatever else I've morphed them into!
