Military Career questions

I was looking at an excerpt of the Prima Sims 3 guide and it said bout he military career " When you reach the Top Gun rank, random Sims in Sunset Valley are
also inspired to salute you. Citizen salutes are positive and will start any social encounter with an impressed context. Sims now get the interaction to Show Sim
the Jet, which can impress potential partners. The Show Sim the Jet social is activated and Sims can take dates to the base. Showing a date the jet results in an improved romantic context for the relationship. Finally, at level 10, Sims become an Astronaut. Becoming an Astronaut changes the Show Sim the Jet interaction to Show Sim the Spaceship. Showing a Sim the Spaceship is a huge romance booster."

Has that been removed or is it still in the game? Is it available to any sim you meet or only romantic interests? What about boy/girlfriends, fiancees, husbands/wives? Is it available as an interaction at the base or with sims and if with sims is it under Friendly, Romantic, or Special?

So far I haven't seen it, thats why I'm asking.

Had never seen that in my games. But, I don't use military too much. The Astronaut hours are horrendous!

Same here. I'm considering modding the career though so need all the facts and what I have done I've never seen it. I'm thinking maybe it was removed/cancelled?

I haven't played much with that career so can not answer your questions but I've never seen any threads here or on other sites reporting problems with the career or they found it to be broken. I would think if it was removed or cancelled it would have to be done via a patch unless it was inadvertently broken by a patch. There is a listing and detail for all patches On This Page if that helps any.

You might want to consider starting up a test game or old save and use Master Controller to give your Sim the necessary traits, give him/her a Military Career and adjust the Job Level and Performance to Level 10 and see what happens.

Been playing a sim in the military career since 2012 and I have never had the social interaction. I can fire up that game tonight and see if he has it available (been a while since I've played that game).

@t888 - let me know if it worked for you. Might take a game reload.
@Veiledstar - Hello, always nice to see you pop in here :)

I've not seen civilian salutes, but I do remember my military guy getting to the point where he was saluting everyone in town. (Before seducing the ladies....) Considering that you find a Hidden Trait of "Can Salute" I think they might have that first part backwards.

Same as though above. I do remember my sim saluting people but no one saluted him. On another note, I've found an issue with female townies in the Military career that I wonder if anyone else has noticed. I've found that women in this career field only, attempt constantly to go to work while pregnant. I've seen a pregnant sim wearing her military cap and outer wear but when dressed casually when not pregnant, she has a different hair style. Long story short, I've found these women create errors that error trap catches and also freeze the game. I have to age them to retirement age or beyond to stop the problem.

Oh, on the OPs note, I will say that children of other military personnel who have the hidden ability to salute will salute other military sims.
