Is it possible to save any changes I made to the travel world with traveler?

The only mod stopping your Sims from traveling to the abyss. Did you end up there anyway? We'll try to help.

Is it possible to save any changes I made to the travel world with traveler?

Post by springfairy556 » February 6th, 2019, 6:47 pm

When I decide to travel, the first time I arrive, I go in edit mode and add resorts/and or base camps along with a few other lots.
But the next time I visit, all the changes are gone.I was reading a FAQ on the page and it said "The NEXT time you visit the world, your sims will be placed on the Base Camp, or be given the option to move into a vacation home they own."

Making it sound like the changes should stay.If so, how do I get it so they stay? I haven't really ventured much into this world aside from traveling from point a to point b.

I also read you can travel to a second destination(just make sure to save as before going) How is that done? Do I disable the "Treat as vacation" and the travel?

Where you are saying "the next time you visit," do you mean within the same ongoing game or a different ongoing save? The changes you made to the destination world should stick, but only within that one ongoing game. If you start a new game or load up a different, not related save, then of course you will get the stock destination world all over again.

There are ways to improve upon that, but let's hear more about what you are trying to do so we can solve the correct problem.

You can vacation travel from World A to B to C then back to B then back to A. What you cannot do, without messing everything up, is travel from A to B to C then return home to A without retracing your steps. Nor should you attempt to abandon any sims in the travel party along the way, the game won't properly understand which homeworld they belong in. There should be no need disable the Treat as Vacation option for any of this.

Oh sorry, I meant all in the same save file.
I know if I start a new save, it starts completely fresh. But for the same file, my destination worlds don't seem to "stick" I end up back in a fresh world having to set everything up again.

For example.I sent my sims on a trip to the cruise ship world.I added everything I wanted, spent 3 days there, then they went home.
Now a week later(in-game week) I sent them back to that same world and I had to re-add everything I originally added.

I...don't know what a cruise ship world is. Are we talking about Isla Paradiso or a custom player-made world where the world boundaries are indeed that of a cruise ship -- so no land, it's actually a floating small world?

Custom worlds of any kind will not work as expected with NRaas Traveler if they are not assigned a unique ID number during their creation stage. That's not always easy for us mere players to determine until we try one out, but one of the symptoms is that fresh instances of the custom world (or even worse of the homeworld) and its sims keep getting generated on each return visit. Other custom worlds that are ID'ed properly work just fine with Traveler (together with Overwatch and ErrorTrap of course, hopefully those are in play as well) every bit as much as EA worlds do. But I don't think there is anything that can fix an improperly ID'ed world from functioning as expected in this regard.

The worlds, those that work properly, and the sims who live there are not supposed to revert or regenerate on return visits.

Well its happening with all my worlds, not just this particular world, I was just using that as an example.

For example, in my other save I sent them to sunlit tides, I added a couple resorts and the spa. They spent a couple nights there, then went home, decided to go back for their "honeymoon" and the resort was no longer there.

But this is the world of which I was speaking: http://potato-ballad-sims.tumblr.com/po ... 4278040/v2
Again, its not just happening with this particular world, and in fact, this isn't the world I wanted to edit, I wanted to edit sunlit tides to include a few resorts a casino and spa.

I probably shouldn't have used the cruise ship as my example, but its the world I'm currently in(I use it as a transportation XD)
But the actual world I'd like to edit is Sunlit Tides, I added a casino, a couple resorts and a spa.And upon my second visit to the world it was a fresh world.
But here's what I am currently using(I use it as a sort of transport between home and final destination)Image

But yeah that's the world I originally mentioned.

What is the homeworld these sims are originating in?

Let's do a test. Travel from an EA homeworld directly to another EA world (Sunlit Tides is fine) on vacation. While there chat with a couple of local residents and put something obvious down like a bowling alley or a dance club that wouldn't ordinarily be there. Return home, travel back on another vacation. Is the bowling alley or whatever still there and did the sims you met still know you? If so, that's how it's supposed to work.

Then try this again with the cruise ship world as the only destination and back, without the other destination. Do changes to the cruise ship stick?

The whole three-part travel thing starting in World A and ending up back there again by going A-B-C-B-A (with B being the intermediary world) was never really an intended Traveler feature. Our developer says he allowed that by accident but players liked it and it seems to work, so he kept it in. Maybe this is an example of where it's not working well.

That's worked for me, but I've only done it with WA worlds (France to China to France to Egypt to France, for example). I've never had sims travel in such a way with EA or CC worlds.

I sort of did that just now. I used Bigger Builder's Island as the homeworld, and Sunlit Tides as the vacation world. While on vacation during the first trip I added 2 resorts to Sunlit Tides. Went home, saved, quit, reloaded, returned to ST and those resorts were still there. You might be on to something with stepped travel from homeworld to CC world to another world and back. Or maybe it's something peculiar to MS Plumbob Dream (which I have installed but I never used in gameplay).

That's because something happen to that world when it got exported from CAW. When I tried to unzip it with 7Zip it gave me an error and refused to unpack the world which is not a good sign. I got it to unpack with WinZip and noticed that the internal header for the world was messed up.

Okay, Im gonna give that a go and see what happens.
The world works fine as a world, I had no trouble or errors unpacking it, then again I don't use 7zip I use winrar.
7zip always caused issues with things for me.

Edit: And make sure you're unzipping the simspack, not the world files.

Sittingbear- when you unzipped it, which file did you take? Did you take the "sea package" or the simspackage.

the .package file is a custom mod so that the ship actually moves.
