Traveller bugging out all over

The only mod stopping your Sims from traveling to the abyss. Did you end up there anyway? We'll try to help.

One last thing that pops up in mind from your tests you bought the Portal from Buy & Build Mode within few sim-minutes (even seconds) after you start a new game. Is this what you usually do?

What happens if you wait when the portal auto-generate on your lot (within approximately 2 to 2.5 sim-hours in game)?

From the tests I ran:
1. - waiting till the portal auto generate
- Inspect Portal, Emit arrives, chat received Almanac, asks for help on collecting Power Cells (opportunity), find and collect 5 Power Cells on your lot, return Power Cells to Emit, ITF unlocked, Emit leaves.
From here on you can Buy and Sell the portal as you wish.
2. - bought the portal straight from Buy and Build mode within a few sim-minutes on a fresh game.
- Inspect Portal, Emit arrives, no Almanac, no Power Cells opportunity, no ITF. Unsure what will happen continuing such game.

Regarding my tests, its all done with my own full mods and full CC setup. Buying the portal and activating ITF before receiving the auto-generated portal is a no go.

Due to the corrections Traveler and extra features brings to the game, that's something I personally can't do without.
And waiting for that auto-generated portal might have its reasons script_wise, as the EA Core is filled with a lot of loopholes. A lot of checks are left out where the saved_game can go pretty much quickly bad. Traveler is there to fix those glitches, see <a href="http://nraas.wikispaces.com/Traveler+Re ... See if it works for you with an auto-generated portal. If it's still bugging, I am afraid there's nothing else I can't think of.

Well i mean. There must be something about Traveler that's causing this.
Because with a vanilla game without any mods, the portal *can* be bought through buy/build and it works just as intended.
So if that is not possible with Traveler there's an issue with the mod.

And regardless, the fact that a simple bottleneck could cause such widespread failures all associated with the things traveler touches ia evidence that something about traveler is not right.

Again NRaas mods are created for fixing stuff the EA Core breaks eventually, due to missing checks within game. The way EA thinks is that you play short TS3 games without thinking what would happen when starting a 4th, 5th generation family.

Known EA issues the descendants-system of ITF consist with a lot of loopholes, multiple spawning of Emit, Almanac not generated. Was reported when the EP was released through several channels.

The descendant system of ITF is completely rewritten in NRaas Traveler and might be the cause why it breaks when buying the portal instead waiting for the auto-generated one.
If you want to prevent the game breaking with having Traveler installed wait for auto-generated one. Do the ITF stuff with Emit to activate the portal, then sell/buy/explode the portal afterwards whatever you want.

There might be a very reasonable explanation why the ITF part is coded that way in Traveler, though lets just wait till our coder explain this part.

Well the problem is not just the ITF part either as i described above.
EVERYTING traveler touches is broken and i'm not exaggerating.
Arrival, vacation timer, work positions being remembered, the lot families get transported to, the arrival task, possibly spawners in vacation worlds, teens being invisible, vacation home/future home buying, traveling to other installed worlds, the time almanach appearing, the time almanach if it's there, home neighborhood tracking, etc.
There is not a single thing i have tried about traveling that wasn't broken with Traveler installed.

I'd like to ask for help from some coder here once again, because i am unable to use Traveler (and thus most of Sims) while this issue is still unresolved.

Our lead developer is Chain, you and he have already met. Haven't seen him on the wiki for a couple of days, he gets busy (in the real world) at times. I am sure he will respond when he gets a chance to catch up here. In the meantime, please be patient. Threads get mysteriously locked when players aren't patient, I'm afraid.

J4Ks offered up an alternative based on his testing. For the time being, while we're waiting, have you tried what he suggested? Don't purchase the time portal right away, wait for the auto-generated one to appear before summoning Emit. Any different results on your end when trying it that way?

i have not tried yet, because while that could solve the time portal issue i don't see how it would solve the problems in the other worlds. Nonetheless i'm trying it now.

I was able to reproduce the issue with buying the portal bugging the almanac appearance with Traveler installed. It does work fine on the spawned one. Why escapes me because it's running the same code on the spawned one vs the placed one. Will require more investigation and I am limited on time unfortunately. Unfortunately I was unable to reproduce the other issues you reported besides the purchasing future home being unavailable (traveled to egypt from sunset valley, the time left bar appears saying 1/3 days left, had option to return home). If you have steps you took to trigger them, please let me know.

Well i was also unable to reproduce the other issues. I assumed that the portal not triggering correctly with bought ones was indicative of the other issues being present, but it might simply be two separate issues.
The traveling errors caused by some mod conflict, and the portal thing caused by an error.

Unfortunately trying to figure out why the traveling bugs out will require a lot more time, because traveling takes time....
Will update as i progress.

For now at least i'm glad the portal error was reproducible.
