With fog off would the hidden islands still have it?

Heading in game now to get the town set up.

Sorry, I didn't mean fog as in foggy weather. The game-defined "fog" that makes hidden islands be hidden until the player satisfies the required opportunities to discover them. But it's not worth worrying about if the game plays fine with those as they are by default.

Well, so far it's not been too bad. No messages at all about stuck Sims, but I've not actually played my family for a whole Sim day yet.

And I did have 26 homeless sims, but that was due to an error on my part and I reset it to false for allow homeless or true to purge homeless, however that works.

It took awhile to get families moved, houses deleted, houseboats deleted and/or changed to NVA lots and resorts deactivated, with towers and food carts removed, and changed to NVA community lots. But not as long as I thought it would, so that was a plus!

But I have had a couple of odd things. After the Summer Festival showed up, I got a message saying 6 food cart merchants filled, 2 unfilled or something similar to that. The two unfilled positions were the booths at the Festival, but I wasn't really sure how to fill them! I've only had them filled automatically previously or left unattended before I got Register. The message wouldn't go away, so I finally used register to fill the food booths from the role sims list that showed up. But then I got a message saying that paparazzi roles were -2 of 2. Missing paparazzi didn't sound like such a bad thing and a bit later it went to -1 of 1, so it seems like the game filled one of those postions.

My questions are:
Since my active family are celebrities, 2 -4 star, are the paparazzi needed? And if so, how would I fill those roles?
And what other food carts or booths would be filled by those 6 other merchants? I looked at the resorts again to see if I missed a food cart, but didn't see any. Would there be other places in IP that they would show up? Should I have filled the festival booths with other sims besides role sims? I tried service sims but it said there were none available.
I did leave a drinks booth at one resort pool, but the mixologist only shows up when my active family is there, since the lot is NVA, so I thought that was okay.

I have a feeling I'm overlooking something very simple but so far it's escaped me!

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Try unemployed homeless sims, since usually the ones listed as role sims are already assigned a role. The game "should" eventually refill the roles it just can be slow sometimes.

Thank you! The game did finally fill the paparazzi role hours into game play last night.

I typically get rid of homeless sims per the prompt at the beginning of a new world/town.

Is that something I shouldn't do?

Does it take away all the Townies who are homeless as well? There were some I wanted to keep!

For IP, the mermaids and Ariel Walsh as well!

I should have thought of that before now, but if they're gone, I'll just have to use original residents and change my game plan for this world.

I am pretty sure that is the ones it deletes if you let it, I always answer no and don't let overwatch manage them either. That is the pool it usually pulls the role Sims from. It can be slow to repopulate it, and if I remember correctly if you let overwatch manage the homeless it deletes them regularly.

Yes, it does, but the mermaids are still in IP! My sim found Salty at one of the dive spots, so I didn't mess that part up.

Even though mermaids are "homeless", apparently they are not the exactly the same type of homeless as regular homeless!

I think poor Miss Walsh is gone though! But I've already got one playable red haired Insane sim, so probably didn't need another!

Do you know if the mermaids age prior to becoming active? Or if the game adds new ones if the originals become active?

That I can't recall, sadly it has been awhile since I have been able to play as my computer went belly up a while back and our finances have not been good enough for us to replace any of them. I think it will replace them if needed, but not positive.

It does add new ones! Salty's part of my active family now, so I checked population and there's another merman!

But they do age as the game progresses----so I'll have to befriend and move some of the older merpeople in, so I can have younger ones.

Or move them in and age them down if I want to keep original town genetics!

At least I have options now that I know they are still in game.

You can disable aging with SP, in caste options, for the different life states. Just make sure to set it a t a lower priority for babies, toddlers, children and teens or they will never age but higher priority than young adult and above.

Thanks for that bit fo info! I've just been individually resetting their ages down with the Age: absolute feature.
Doing if for them across the board will be much easier.

Only have YA and adult mersims so far, but I'll keep that in mind once nooboos are born.

If Polly ever has any! She has the Dislikes Children trait so I may have to pollinate her so I can see a fairy/mersim!
