Travel Destinations

Post by littlelambsy » January 3rd, 2018, 12:15 am

I'm just wondering how others have made the WA destinations more exciting. I get bored going to them all the time. Does anyone ever clean out the town, Immigrate new sims, build... I need travel excitement LOL

I've never "cleaned out the towns," that would imply that they were dirty to begin with. :)

I think I've shared this here recently. On my last trip to Al Simhara, I put in all kinds of (map space permitting) community lots for the locals to use and a couple of rabbit holes so a few of them who seemed to have no money or much in possessions could get careers. Plus a school. Immigrated a few new households in by way of SP immigration and put them in the school and careers as well. Ran out of space pretty quickly though. Had to guide the locals into the rabbit hole careers using MC, but once there they did go to work and start progressing.

On the venues, they loved the gym so I had to expand it almost right away as it was always packed! I also put in some watering holes, an Internet cafe, and a dance club, Igazor's Tomb of course, in the first two levels of the already explored tomb underneath the central marketplace. Was going for a bowling alley one level further down but never got around to it nor did I yet get to see if mummies can dance or go bowling. :)

The WA worlds will never progress quite like homeworlds do, but it's fun to spruce them up a bit and make up some backstories to go with the local ones already there then watch them more or less function.

LOL, that would be something to see, mummys dancing and bowling. Thanks for the suggestions. I did add a nightclub in Egypt one time, a long time ago. Now with all my "little lots" I may have room to put more venues etc. If I set the WA worlds to age will I find new sims when I go back, from sims having kids and growing up etc?

The only problem I see now is having done some of the adventures, there's no way of resetting them without replacing the world file... or is there?

Depends on life spans I guess, you may find a world filled with elders. Mine was certainly elder top-heavy, it had been real time years since I had played there prior and it was the same instance of the world as before but there were a few younger ones around.

If all sims age out while a world is not being played, one of the mods (Traveler I suppose) or the game itself is supposed to generate a few descendants of the deceased sims so that the traveling party is not suddenly standing in a completely unpopulated world. I guess you could build on that if you wanted to, not sure how many it really gives us to work with.

Good to know that life does progress even if it is off balance. I don't travel to those places often, but now I probably will. :)

Hi LL ...
The only problem I see now is having done some of the adventures, there's no way of resetting them without replacing the world file... or is there?
One of our members has posted a way to reset tombs. See: <a href="http://nraas.wikispaces.com/Travel+-+Va ... >Resetting Tombs On This Page</a>.

@igazor - love your suggestions and I never thought of adding RH's so sims in travel destinations can work. Makes me want to play the WA travel worlds again. Thank you :)

Just curious, what is "Igazor's Tomb"?

LOL, I just made that up. Almost called it Cupcake's Tomb, but he's never been to that world. It's the ad hoc dance club I built on the first two levels of the already explored tomb under the central marketplace in Al Simhara.

That was fun, but it really wasn't the best place for a dance club. There's already plenty of things for inactive sims to do once they visit the marketplace and that's also where I put an Internet cafe with video game machines, so the dance club usually didn't get much traffic unless I invited sims down there.
