Broken family tree after moving part of family to other Traveler World

Post by KittyTheSnowCat » December 2nd, 2017, 12:56 pm

Hi fellow Simmers,
I moved some families over to another world with Traveler, but their children stayed. Now one of those teenagers keeps throwing Errors and her family tree is broken. The father is missing and instead there is an empty square. Apparently the game cannot find the fathers information. I removed him from the family tree, then added him again with MasterController. He shows up when i search for custom homeworld, but is still broken. How can i force the game to reload him properly?
Thank you
Snow

How many of these mods are you using and are they all up to date?
Traveler, Overwatch, Error Trap, RelationshipPanel, MC

I removed him from the family tree, then added him again with MasterController.
I don't see how you can do this if the full versions of the sims to be related aren't in the same world at the same time. I think what you have done is added info from a Mini-Sim here, a scaled down data representation of a real sim such as one that might arrive in a foreign (to them) world as a tourist.

Family trees, the graphical display of them I mean, are fragile things and easily sensitive to corruption.

The pieces of the script log you are providing above I think again indicates that you are trying to work with a Mini-Sim, not the real sim who emigrated, and it's being thrown by PortraitPanel. If you would like assistance in interpreting script logs, please zip them together and upload, we can't really work with pasted in portions this way.

Which worlds are you working with? Some custom worlds do not behave well when being connected by way of Traveler. Some EA Store worlds didn't either for a while, but that was fixed in v87 of Traveler.

Pending the above information, checks on mod versions, and ruling out custom world borkage, possibly the only way to fix this is to revert play to a save from before the dad left the homeworld and redo this another way.

Maybe I should have read the OP more carefully.

"I moved some families over to another world with Traveler..." How exactly did you do this?

What if I travel to the World the father lives in and add him back while being there? This way I don't have a mini-Sims, right?
My Mods should be up to date.. should.. I will just redownload them just to be sure.

As to how I moved the families: exactly as the Traveler FAQ says. Moved them over bought a vacation home, changed homeworld, reloaded.

You could try the travel to their world first thing, yes. Provided, I think, that you start from a place without the current corruption or bad data, whatever it is. Then your sims and the dad will be full versions.

The reason for my asking how you moved them is that you said you moved some families (plural), which suggested perhaps incorrectly that this was done some other way than transitioning back and forth between the two worlds multiple times. But maybe in reality this all happened over a span of time, not all at once.

I put 3 families in one household, traveled, bought the vacation homr, changed homeworld, reloaded, then split the household. It is weird that the mother is fine.. And the other Sims from other families work fine too.. I will try traveling there.. It already through the mini-sims error in the beginning.. so for some reason the dad was already registered as a mini-sim..

Okay, objection on method of moving withdrawn. It just wasn't very clear at first.

And yes, it does seem odd that this issue only seems to be affecting one sim.
