Traveller and EP11 base camp

Post by MoMoll » October 20th, 2017, 10:00 am

I have the latest version of Traveller (87) and set up pltownx to go to with a base camp. I double check, that it says "base camp" before saving. However, time after time when my sim arrives, she's in a house and I check and see that the base camp is changed to "Base Camp E11"!
Something is messed up with the latest version of Traveller.
Where can I get version 86 to replace 87!

Hi There MoMoll.. Not sure if I can help but will take a shot at it. I have Traveler 87 in and have had no problems with creating/assigning Base Camps. Not sure what pltownx is but am assuming it is a world you want for a travel destination.

When you set up the BC did you have a sim living in that town? My experience has been that a sim needs to be living in a world and the game is saved as such. Then just saving and dropping the .nhd file for the vacation destination in the world where your sim will travel from should work.

It says base camp ep11. This was done on purpose to differentiate between the base camp type that came with world adventures and the future base camp type in the lot type menu because EA named them the same. Perhaps you selected the wrong one in edit town?

I had set up various towns to travel to with a base camp before starting my game.
So your saying I need to have a game already going before setting up the other towns?

Chain, I selected the correct one. I had set up Starlight Shores and Bridgeport with base camps. Then, I went and set up Sunset Valley with a base camp. I added the nhd files to Sunset Valley and then, I started to play.
So, as brappl said, do I have to not add the nhd files until I started my game?

Go into edit town. Do you see the two different base camp types there? Select the one that doesn't say EP11.

Quick question: BC EP11. Could it be ITF can not be set up as a vacation world? Doesn't that world have some sort of time traveler? That might be why you are seeing Base Camp EP11. The regular EA worlds you are playing with do not have base camps. With the exception of IP I have only connected custom worlds so my advice might be moot. However, if you try to add a base camp in a world that already has one, you'll get a message telling you there is already a base camp in that world. BUT I recall when setting up a travel world I have needed at least one family in a game save, dropped the .nhd in the world traveling before my sims could go there .

She mentioned setting up other worlds, not the future world unless I'm misunderstanding. It's actually Overwatch doing this, not Traveler. Looking in edit town I see it's still showing the same two base camp types so perhaps this isn't working as intended. Either EA used the same language entry for that or edit town uses a different one than the map tag. I swore I had that working.

Either way you want to be selecting the second on the list (at least in English) as the into the future one doesn't spawn an adventure board.

I did what brappl said. I went into the towns, chose a random person and redited and saved. Now it works. However, I thought we could set up towns beforehand without creating a real game in that town.
Just wanted Starlight Shores, so my singer could get experience; because her home town only has the big show and private venues.
Chain, it's actually the first in the list. The second is EP11

You can, this is just a text thing. Question, is your game not in English?
