Hi pjsutton - Traveler is an awesome mod. You can connect as many worlds as you want and sims can travel back and forth to visit.
I often have households switch hometowns and stay connected to they can go back and visit relatives and friends. Have you had a chance to take a look at the Traveler FAQ? Is there something in particular we can help you with?

So, if I want to connect to an existing world (save) that I have, I need to put the NHD in the save game file? And then, to play a game in that world, I'd have to first load the homeworld, then when I go to travel, remove the Sim's face and travel - then it'll let me choose a household? What happens to the homeworld? Is time stopped?

@bekkasan - Oh I'm sorry, I didn't see your success and follow-up question until just now. Great news, and yes that lot type flipping back is a real pain until you get used to checking for it. Yes, you should now be able to travel "with no sims on board" to transition from one world to another. Occasionally this fails on me, in the sense that the travel transition never loads (rarely though). When that happens, I grab some random sim I don't care about it World A and move them to World B using the vacation fakeout, buy a home, then Change Hometowns method. Once the actively being played homeworld is World B, then I can change active households to the one I really wanted to play. But this has only happened to me randomly around twice in all these years, and not on the current versions of Traveler. :)

@pjsutton - I'm getting the sense that you haven't read the FAQ yet. Only one world can be simulated at a time, so when playing in World B, everything in World A goes into a state of suspended animation. I suggest that players first try running a test game and taking a vacation to some random (non-WA) world they have installed and go through the motions of moving there permanently while on that vacation so they get a sense of how this all works. The nhd file manipulation is really more of an advanced feature and for those who want to "combine" two already existing games into one. It's not necessary to do things that way at all.

so....what am I gonna do without y'all when the wiki closes down per the message I just got on the 29th-31st? :(

I had not thought about using a random sim, sounds good to me.

I'm also gonna try sending a few teens to uni per what is on the faq, but probably not real soon. I need to learn one thing a time. :)

What I like to do, when the story line makes sense, is send over-performing teens to Uni with their older siblings or cousins and give them a very light course load like one class as a high schooler doing Advanced Placement courses here in the US might do. That way they get to experience a lot of the fun of Uni World without all of the pressure of doing a full degree program right away and it doesn't seem ridiculous that they still have to finish high school when they return home. That and the older sims can keep an eye on them to make sure they don't get into trouble their first times away from home (although in reality it's often the other way around depending on what I perceive to be their relative maturity levels). :)

Yikes, I know what you meant about the wiki but this is how panics get started. Wikispaces is shutting down for what could be a couple of days for maintenance. For those who might not be seeing the system messages, we are not going anywhere -- well actually we are sometime in the future, but not until the new NRaas website is ready for use.

Oh...that is a great idea story wise to send with an older cousin or sibling for some AP style courses. I did wonder how they would graduate high school later.

Not gonna panic and at least I did see the notice. The notice was kinda in your face over the top of the threads. :) I do know how to page you over on the officials. :)
