TestingCheats enabled - always by mod...

Post by Ghiby » September 20th, 2019, 9:03 pm

hi all...

I know there is a mod that we can use and set to have "TestingCheats enabled" all the time, by default once the game starts or loads...

I just forgot what mod is or how to get to that setting, I've used before, but I can't remember how to get there again... hehe...

can someone point me out in the right direction, please...
thank you

That's an option feature of Overwatch, I've been using it for years myself.

NRaas > OW > Settings > Testing Cheats Enabled > True

thank you igazor, as always right on the spot

that's exactly the one I was looking for... hehe.. me too I've been using it for years, but once the setting it's done we don't come back so often to that, so I was lost for a moment, after starting a new game and realizing it's not on, then that I don't remember how to turn it back on.. hehe...

thank you, that was it exactly...

Is it ok to have TCE on all the time? I thought there was an issue. Or maybe it was one of the other commands I am thinking of.

There's an extremely small number of unusual things that happen differently when testingcheats in always engaged. The only one I can remember offhand is that weight loss surgery at the hospital yields different results with some potential confusion between genetic and temporary weight values and it's better to have testingcheats off, but this has been reported by players and I don't think ever confirmed by anyone here at NRaas. But nothing related to what most of us consider everyday play comes to mind.

I started playing with the OW setting for testingcheatsenabled myself when I noticed Twallan saying that he also always did so. I mean, if it was good enough for our fearless founder...

It's MoveObjects and BuyDebug On that one wouldn't want to have engaged all of the time. MoveObjects because it's far too easy to accidentally move things around when we really didn't mean to and make them unusable, BuyDebug because it tends to crash the game while saving, or while entering and leaving Edit Town, in some instances.

From a quick glance I don't see anything confirming this in the code. It's possible this was patched out or it's another one of those official forum tales.

There's no known differences or issues that occur with the cheats enabled that I've ever found.

Hi, I'm wondering if there is a way to enable other cheats at startup as to not have to manually enter them every time? Two that come to mind are "moviemakercheatsenabled true" and "hideHeadlineEffects on". Thanks.

Yes. The first step is to add the additional commands to Overwatch's list.
NRaas > OW > Console Commands > Add Command

The second step is to set the newly added commands to be run at startup.
NRaas > OW > Console Commands > Auto Commands

Sometimes the jobs such as housefires will not trigger if TCE is on. I've noticed this a few times doesn't happen all the time so it could be bug.
