Dog added to active family

I had a puppy added to my active family after a sim died. I think I have had this happen before too. How do I prevent this?

Well, I suppose we have to begin with the default solutions that every problem has. Don't play with the Pets EP (thus no puppies) or don't let sims die. I know, effective though not helpful but that's the nature of such solutions.

The only time I see this happen (several times) is when my active household has an NPC roommate who adopted a puppy/kitten and then forgets it was theirs, so it becomes part of the controllable household instead. I'm guessing the sim who died though was an inactive friend or relative and the puppy was placed with your sims through the inheritance scenarios that fire when a sim dies of old age as might happen with children and younger had there been any such sims in the dissolving household as well. Under EA standard, I believe kids and pets would just be removed from the game when there is no longer a viable head of household but SP says no, we have to find a home for these sims in town if we can.

I would probably use MC > Add Sim to shift the puppy to a different household if I didn't want it or go through the social interactions to get a friend/neighbor to accept it. But honestly, how much trouble can a cute little puppy really cause? :)

I am doing an isle of the midnight sun challenge so I don’t want any extra sims. I also am a bit of a micro manager so I don’t want sims I didn’t plan in some way.

This sim was from Egypt was she was out of the family and there is no other family so I don’t know why this is happening. It happened twice in a row now.

What setting is making this happen? And how can I get rid of it? I can’t find where to remove sim from family.

So I went back in for a 3rd time and before it happened I took pet allowable down to 0 so I think that fixed it. At least seems to have for now.
