Is it actually snowing hard in the fall or are the schools stuck in some sort of always closed mode regardless of the weather?

I do have a solution for you, though it may not be the one you want. The presence of the SP Career add-on module (not the Careers mod, the add-on for StoryProgression) puts a stop to Snow Days entirely. The code disallows them and there are no associated options available. We're not entirely sure why, we think Twallan found this feature was misbehaving and disabled all of it years ago. It's on the slate to be looked at again for a future release of SP. As a result, many players here (even some of my colleagues at one point) didn't even realize there was such a thing as Snow Days to begin with as they had never seen one.

This of course assumes one is using NRaas SP to manage story progression.

The sky has been clear and no snow at all..
i have had sp career module for a long time so yes i have not seen this snow day thing for a long time...
so the tempest mod has nothing to do with this? Cause it seems to start happening after I put that mod in.

Tempest doesn't affect Snow Days that I know of, only the weather patterns and holidays (and other related things like crops freezing and the persistence of fallen leaves). It's up to the school board, not the meteorologists, as to when schools should be closed.

So SP is actually in control of progression, meaning SP > General Options > Enable Progression is True?

Strange. Unless you have a mod from another source in play that has something to do with Snow Days, I don't even see how the scenario can be running or how the designation is getting used. Perhaps a MC Reset of the entire town, or at least the schools, might help fix things?

Ok. I solved this issue.
I just clicked the computer and there was an ‘enroll school’ option. Even though my sim was enrolled at school and it is indicated in her school tab, I could enroll my sim at the elementary school and everything solved. No more constant snow days!!

My sims never have snow days anymore and I didn't even notice or think about it until reading this. Now I know it's the career mod.

BTW: When I first read this line I was like, where does Igazor live he's never heard of a snow day? I swear I remember talking with him about snow! LOL

Snow days are rare where I live in NW Missouri, we don't often get more than a few inches of snow. The worst one I can remember was about 12 inches (30cm) but that's been decades ago. In fact, we used to get a lot more snow here when I was a kid. It's so strange we get so little anymore? Yet we do still get bone-chilling temps! Last winter was in the negative digits for two months. Today, Merry Xmas folks...it's going to be in the 50*'s F high near 60*F (15*C)
It snowed WAY more where I lived in Michigan for a little over a year, where a foot of snow was "light". And I had to LOL when I lived in Virginia, near Norfolk (it's on the mid-east coast for those who don't know the US) everyone freaked out when they got barely a half an inch of snow and everyone was just "freezing" when it got down just above the freezing mark for about half a day. LOL I was like...hmmm try the negative digits for weeks on end with wind-chills that literally freeze the snot in your nose if you think 32* F (0*C) is bad!. HAHA I barely needed a jacket. ;)

The Careers mod doesn't stop the Snow Days, SP's Careers module does that.

I meant that many players with the SP Career module forget there is such a thing as a snow day in the game, not in real life. Where I grew up, yes we laughed at the idea of even thinking about schools closing for "only" a foot of snow. Three feet...maybe. It depends on when and how quickly it fell or was still falling, if there was any visibility in the early morning at all, and how clear the major roads might have been so that the school buses could get through. Actually, the real formula was if the school superintendent could figure out how to get his car out of the driveway at 6 am or so and still see a road out there someplace, then the schools would be open. Since we didn't have the Internet back then and listening to long lists of school district closings to find out if by some miracle ours was listed was a pain, as we were towards the end of the alphabet, all we really had to do was call the superintendent's son (he went to my high school) and ask if his Dad was home. :)

When i later lived in DC and worked in a government office, I went to work three times without even thinking to check for weather related closures (one and a half inches and some ice, really?) only to find I was the only one there. Got the hang of that eventually. No wonder the local morning news shows had such high ratings back then.

Count me as one of those who weren't even aware that there were snow days in the game, which I think I appreciate because I don't like my sims missing school.

As for real life snow days - growing up in a part of texas that does not get a lot of snow (the panhandle usually gets a fair amount), we would get them really any time there was any sort of snow, unless it melted immediately. Believe me, I've heard all the laughing and poking fun at how soft we all are down here with such a low threshold for school and business closure, but it makes sense. A lot of people without a lot of driving experience in freezing weather on the roads in a pretty bad idea!
