merging cc and overwriting

Post by starwe » June 22nd, 2019, 7:13 pm

hi, i have a question.
my question is ==> when i use sims3dashboard program, i see my some custom contents seem incompatible. But when i merge them by using s3pe, i see xml file(one of them) goes overwriting to other file's xml on the s3pe, and merging file does seem no incompatible any longer in the sims3dashboard, so i mean;
this merging issue is safe?

Depends on what your merging.
If it's script mods from the same mod creator then no as they sometimes use the same source for all their mods.
Sliders no.
Tuning mods yes but you have to watch out if you have 2 tuning mods that edit the same XML cause if you want the benefits of both tunings you have to edit one of them to have the changes from both.
CC objects yes as they all have an item manifest XML which uses the same instance number. Although you do get some strange ones that use more than one of the same resource.

It's possible I'm not approaching this from the same or the best angle. But I think the question here though is, given that the player has potentially conflicting content when they are handling them by way of individual package files, does the merging process in any way all by itself remove the conflict related issues thereby making simultaneous loading of such content any safer. And in that case, I would have to say the answer is no across the board. The content is either okay to use as it was, single file or merged, or it isn't. Dashboard is by no means an ultimate detector of such issues, there will always be false positives and things that it misses.

Not all conflicts that show up in Dashboard are serious or need any action taken, especially when we're talking about related content from the same developer. But if two (or more) items really do seriously conflict as individual packages, I don't see how merging them together so as to keep Dashboard quiet about them, if that is what is happening, is going to make them any more or less safe to use than they already were. This is all pretty abstract, though. Maybe some concrete examples of the content in question might help?

I'm sorry for late reply. I'm not from the america continent so there is time-difference...
Well, i have currently problem related to vampire stuff converted from sims4 to sims 3 by kandiraver. And i see in the dashboard 20 package files of kandiraver conflicting with EACHOTHER.
And i saw one another related to boroughsburg city from potatoballad.
NYWorldDetail.package and PotatoBalladSims_Boroughsbourg_Content.package belonging to same creator namely potato ballad have conflicts eachother as well...
I know this question has become a weird but my main question actually is this.I have sliders folder and the size of folder (unmerged) is 76,3 mb , but when i merged, it decreased to 8,18 mb.
And another example is im using deco skyscrapers contents, and my unmerged skyscrapers folder's size is 398 mb but when i merge it as well, it has decreased to 76,1 mb.(but note that, unmerged skyscrapers and sliders packages don't seem conflicting with any other package file in the dashboard nevermore)

I usually stitch and compress objects by type: CAS elements, objects, default replacement. And I don't touch gameplay modifications. After that СС really weigh less and the game loads better. However, after such procedures, always check their performance in the game. Just in case, make a backup of the Mods folder if something goes wrong.
