Toddler Toss in Air

Post by diplace » April 8th, 2019, 9:42 am

How do I change Autonomous Toss in Air (Toddlers) to false. I have 4 adults living in household and they almost fight, to be able to toss the toddler in the air. Its driving me nuts.

Thank you

Have you tried clicking on a baby using Retuner? Before that, click on the City hall or computer and make sure that the Show Object Menu is set to True.

A baby is a sim not an object.

Nraas>Retuner>Settings>General>Social Interaction>Toss In Air> Allow Autonomous False
If this doesn't work then it's the game core overriding it and there would be no way to stop it.

LOL I probably would have given the same advice as Sara. My reasoning would have been, if I wanted to reset the sim using DE (to stop the present action without sending the sim back home like MC reset sim), the path is DE > .... >OBJECT > Reset. So I would have assumed it would work with a sim and tried clicking on the baby looking for the Retuner settings. :D Good to know the real path.

To be fair, internally Sims are objects it's just Retuner's setup to list social interactions under a different menu. :P

Diplace - I've never had the problem with tossing in the air....I mean my sims do that once in a while, but it's not a regular thing. It's so amazing to me how different things happen to different players! For me it's always babies/toddlers will magically "call" Sims to come pick them up for no reason at all and then the sim will wander around carrying the baby/toddler and it seems to supersede any action I may have asked the sim to do. It never shows in the active Sims queue, but it will if you click on the toddler or baby it will show as, "be picked up"! IDK what that's about but I wish I could stop that too. I've not found that specific "be picked up" action in Retuner...but I did see the "toss in the air" action. Just activate the Retuner select option and then click on the individual sims and turn off the autonomous action for "toss in the air"

Oh yeah, and god-forbid you put a toddler in a high-chair in a house with a lot of older Sims! OMG, it's like a mob-rush to see who can feed the toddler first, you either end up with a traffic jam at the high-chair or a dozen bowls of pureed whatever food sitting all over the house!

I suppose the worst with the random pick up toddler/baby is that the sim often sits them down in a bad place, far from where they can get to any toys, the potty..etc. But it also really bugs me that this action stops my sim from doing what I asked.

Anyway, good luck. .:)

Thank you so much for your responses. I really appreciate ya'll.

Sittingbear - Thank you so much for the location in retuner. I didn't think to look in Social Interactions.

JohnL83 - I have found that happens with the cribs and bassinets also. I did go into retuner and changed the autonomous to false for the objects (crib, bassinet). That made the adults leave the baby alone. But now I have to direct them to get the baby. That is ok though.

There will be exceptions and statistical outliers, but studies have shown that the majority of happy, well adjusted adults started out their lives by being picked up, held, and carried around, often for no reason. These are not potted plants your sims are raising, they are people...I mean sims, your next generation, and they require human...I mean sim contact. Do I really have to come over and lecture all of you in-person on child raising (that would be humorous since I actually don't have any of my own and probably many of you do).

Not sure any studies have been done on the impact of the excessive Tossing in the Air thing, except maybe in the cases where the adult never bothers to catch them. :P

What really bugs me is when I get one sim to put the toddler in the high chair, then go to make some food for him/her and while my back is turned making food, another sim comes along and takes the toddler out of the chair and give it a bottle on the floor! My sim is left standing with prepared food and nobody to eat it. So I turned off "Take out of highchair" in Retuner.
