Daycare question, again...

Post by JohnL83 » April 2nd, 2019, 1:48 pm

Is there a way to get the active sims to physically drop their kids off at daycare? I finally got Go Here to work in my game, and it's doing okay at keeping my daycare active, but I'm getting tired of the toddlers and babies being teleported there and it screwing up the cribs/high chairs at home. Every time this occurs the crib still thinks someone is in there and I have to reset. It also occurred when they took off for work and left the toddler in the high chair. When I got my focus back home later the sims had cleared a 12 portion plate of food trying to serve the invisible toddler in the high chair and there were a dozen bowls of pureed lobster thermidor all over the kitchen and dining room! LOL

I did a temporary solve of this by being sure the baby or toddler was on the floor before sims left, but I really don't want to micro manage them that often when there are a total of 7 sims in the this particular house to manage, not including the new toddler and baby.

Anyway, when I tried to drop the baby and toddler off at the local daycare I got the warning to stay here or call a sitter. Which I did and one showed up at the daycare. LOL.

Skyrim3000 - Sorry but I do not find your comment on this thread to be accurate nor its attitude helpful in any way and it has been temporarily deleted, pending further review.

I happen to think we take very good care of our newer members, the OP included. The only times I see posts go unanswered is when honestly no one seems to know how to respond -- the questions we get here tend to be much more complex and differently focused than those posed on the EA forums. If you do not care for the environment on this site, then you are more than welcome to not participate.

Daycare question, again...

Just so everyone knows, my question here is not the same as my question in the "Go Here" page. I have a daycare question in Go Here but felt that they are unrelated and I figured this may relate to something other than just the Go Here mod, so I placed it here. I know I ask a lot of questions, but I have been off work now twice in just 6 months! each time it's been several weeks in recovery from surgeries and have been very bored so I am playing a lot of Sims and trying out all kinds of new things. This means lots of questions. Please I hope no one gets discouraged or feels I am monopolizing the board. Even if you don't feel that, I certainly do, I kind of annoy myself so don't feel badly if you're annoyed by me. LOL

Also I'm fully aware that any unanswered questions are waiting for those who know the subject matter better, so no worries on speedy answers. I know Daycare and kids isn't most people's favorite or most well known subject. At least among the board moderators. I often just keep trying things to see what works.

Just FYI, I am hoping this was my final surgery for a long time and I'm fairly certain that it will be, then back to work on the regular. Unless I jinxed myself. ;) But I don't think so this time. It's truly a relief! I need a break from Sims for a while too, I will welcome getting back to work believe it or not! Que the "Stir Crazy" moodlet! Just one more week before I get the clearance from my DR.

Daycare question, again...

I don't have a daycare in my town currently, but I'll probably play around with it later and see how it works. I had no idea that active sims could use the daycare. I don't mind your questions because many times they help clarify things for me. If I do mess with the daycare later I'll post here.

John, I think folks like you who ask questions are being really helpful. There are lots of people who will search for answers to questions / problems, but won't ever actually ask questions / for help. So by asking questions you are (Google willing) helping those folks to solve their problems too.

Daycare question, again...

The GoHere/Daycare structure for active kiddies as well as inactive town households can be messy at times, I've had it work fine for a few sim weeks then act all strange again. Others seem to have far fewer issues with it, not sure if patterns leading up to its issues have ever been fully identified. I believe it's on the slate to be looked at if we can ever tear our developer away from running the site and get him back into modding again. Personally I just stop using it in favor of babysitters instead for both actives and inactive residents when it starts acting up then reinstate daycare again later. The inactive daycare provider being thrust into Level 5, which is the top level for that career, by way of MC always seems to help at least for a while. So does keeping their residential lot MC Opened so they all stay animated and I try to keep an eye on what's going on in there, when I can.

Just to clarify, the OP's questions have been and are fine. Another member was being disruptive, sorry about that, perhaps I should have responded to that disruption a different way. But telling members new, old, or middle aged (so to speak) that their issues will not be addressed and they should post their NRaas mod related questions elsewhere is not part of the environment we work pretty hard to maintain here. :)

I know I ask a lot of questions,
You ask questions I have as well, I have learned a lot from your threads. It is because of people like you that I have so far found every answer I needed by just reading here and not having to ask anything myself. So please keep asking, because you do it much better than I can, I'm not a native English speaker.

BTW, I can understand the "stir crazy" effect, I have fibromyalgia so am often homebound myself, I hope you will recover soon and get back to an active life.

As far as I know there is no way to do this atm.
Sadly it would probably result in a routing nightmare, as working Sims with little kids would need to leave for Daycare early, drop their kids off and then go to work.. But I would really like to try it. You can reset the objects with DebugEnabler -> Reset and then they work again, that is faster than making sure the kids are on the floor when the car pool arrives.
There also is an option somewhere to allow toddlers alone on lots. With that you could bring them to the Daycare and leave them there. But since Sims 3 is imcapable of having a Sim transport more than one toddler at a time I am not a fan of bringing..

There's no way to do this but I've made a note to look into fixing the issue of the objects remaining in use.

Thanks everyone. I'm doing much better and finally off the stupid pain meds. YUK! I don't know how anyone likes those things! But they are nice if you're hurting, I'm just glad to finally be able to be without them!
Cassie - I know Fibromyalgia can be really rough, my niece has it and she seems to allergic to many pain meds, but they finally found stuff that works thank goodness. And thanks for your kind words.

Igazor, thanks, I think that I like babysitters a bit better too, unless I'm actively running the daycare. Which I find fun most days. Though I do remember a time when I had like 5 toddlers at once and not only did my level 5 supernanny sim freak out, so did I! LOL. I had to cheat just to shut the screaming brats up because, of course, the parents all brought them in the worst moods and half starving!

It's a shame we can't play Butlers, maids, sitters or handymen/women or even repo sims, It would be kind of cool to visit various sims and interact in their homes. Sort of like you do with the fashion and home design careers, but you wouldn't have to spend hours in CAS and can actually play. They could plan things like cleanup after a big party or actually have the house flood and the handy sim has to fix it up and clean up, things like that.
